Job Description

Marine Trades Instructor/Training Coordinator (Part-time, hourly): WWC is growing and expanding and seeks applicants for the role of marine trades instructor to develop, organize, and facilitate craft training in the maritime industry. The role of the Marine Trades instructor is to provide knowledge in his/her field of expertise and to promote various student-centered activities that stimulate an interest and motivate students to pursue marine trades and other maritime careers. This requires a high-energy, innovative individual with a keen interest in helping to develop the next generation of waterfront workforce. WWC is currently seeking applicants with experience in any or several of the following skill areas: electronic drive technology (zero emissions), welding, outside machinist, rigging, marine painting and general skills in blueprint reading, mechanical aptitude, instructing on the use of hand and power tools and safe work practices.
Example of Duties:
  • Assist in delivery of a short-term (10 weeks) training curriculum with direction and guidance from industry employers;
  • Prepare and teach classes in electronic drive technology (zero emissions) and my assist with other aspects of marine trades. Topics will include construction math, mechanical and spatial relations, measurements, tool identification, rigging skills, and extensive use of hand and power tools;
  • Uses various teaching strategies, learning styles, and delivery methods to support student success;
  • Remain current with industry technology, standards, trends, and practices;
  • -Make recommendations in the development of curriculum updates and program applications;
  • Assess and manage equipment and supplies for the program and monitors the security of the program's equipment;
  • Maintain a hazard free environment and practices safety in the classroom, shop, and in all program spaces and activities;
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Pay:
$40.00
