3 Tampa, FL Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications Outdoor work Rigging Full Job Description Gulf Marine Repair Riggers / Night Shift The Rigger is responsible for the safe preparation, attachment, and movement of heavy loads in a shipyard environment. This role works closely with crane operators and supervisors to ensure all lifts are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect and prepare rigging equipment, including slings, shackles, chains, and cables Safely attach and secure loads for lifting, moving, and positioning Signal and communicate effectively with crane operators during lifting operations Calculate load weights, center of gravity, and proper rigging configurations Assemble and disassemble rigging equipment as required Inspect rigging gear before and after use to ensure safety and compliance Maintain a clean and organized work area Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Minimum Requirements:
2-4 years of rigging experience, preferably in a shipyard or marine environment Strong understanding of rigging techniques, load calculations, and safe lifting practices Ability to read and interpret lift plans and basic diagrams Experience working with heavy equipment and large structural components Strong communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions
Education & Certifications:
Rigging certification required (NCCER, NCCCO, or equivalent preferred) High school diploma or GED preferred
Work Environment:
This position operates in a shipyard environment with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, heavy machinery, and high noise levels. Work may involve heights, confined spaces, and working near water. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
