Job Description
Craft and Technical Solutions is an established Marine and Industrial Staffing Company with offices all over the country. We are currently in need of Riggers to join our team in Norfolk, VA. The Riggers will be responsible for the safe and efficient assembly, installation, and disassembly of rigging systems used to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment across various construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, crane operation, and workplace safety regulations to ensure all lifting activities are performed securely and in compliance with OSHA standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in construction environments, materials handling, and the operation of heavy machinery. Responsibilities Inspect rigging gear, cranes, and lifting equipment regularly to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance. Plan lifting operations by assessing site conditions, load weights, and rigging requirements. Attach loads securely using appropriate rigging techniques, including slings, hooks, shackles, and other hardware. Operate overhead cranes, boom trucks, forklifts, backhoes, excavators, and other heavy equipment necessary for lifting tasks. Coordinate with crane operators and construction teams to execute lifts accurately and safely. Follow all safety regulations related to crane operation, hydraulics, materials handling, and construction site protocols. Maintain detailed records of inspections, lift plans, and safety checks for accountability. Assist with shipping & receiving activities involving heavy equipment or materials requiring rigging. Implement OSHA safety standards consistently across all operations to minimize risk. Support warehouse operations by managing storage of rigging gear and heavy equipment. Skills Extensive mechanical knowledge related to cranes, hydraulics, and heavy machinery operation. Proven experience with overhead cranes, boom trucks, forklifts, backhoes, excavators, and other construction equipment. Strong understanding of construction workplace safety regulations and OSHA standards. Skilled in rigging techniques for various load types and sizes. Ability to operate commercial vehicles for transportation of equipment when necessary. Knowledge of materials handling procedures within construction or warehouse environments. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and ensuring safety compliance. Demonstrated ability to follow detailed lift plans and safety protocols accurately. Prior experience in construction sites or industrial settings is highly desirable. Pass a drug screen and background check. CTS offers a comprehensive benefit packet to eligible employees.
