Job Description

Founded in 1916, E.T. Gresham Company is a trusted construction, crane & rigging, and steel fabrication firm based in Norfolk, Virginia. Serving clients across Southeastern Virginia and Northeast North Carolina, we specialize in delivering high-quality construction projects, safe and efficient heavy lifting solutions, and precision steel fabrication. With more than a century of experience, our team is committed to craftsmanship, safety, and building lasting relationships with our clients. We have an immediate opening for an experienced Rigger to join our team in Norfolk, VA. This hourly, full-time position will support the Crane & Rigging Division. Duties & Responsibilities Select, inspect, and assemble rigging equipment, including hoists, cranes, pulleys, and winches, to move heavy loads. Determine the weight, center of gravity, and balance of loads to be lifted, ensuring they are within the equipment's capacity. Safely operate (maneuver, navigate, drive) trucks and various mechanical equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts. Follow safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure proper signaling, communication, and control during lifting operations. Inspect vehicles, equipment, and rigging gear regularly for signs of wear and tear to ensure all equipment meets safety standards. Immediately report any defects to the shop technician or supervisor. Assist in the lifting, positioning, and securing of equipment, steel, or materials on the job site. Identify potential rigging issues and find solutions to ensure that work proceeds efficiently and safely. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Prior experience in rigging is required. Must have a current, state-issued Driver's License and have a clean driving record. Must be able to pass pre-employment screening and be able to gain entry to any military installation in the Hampton Roads area. Ability to work outdoors or in industrial settings in a variety of weather conditions and job site hazards; may be required to work in confided spaces or at elevated heights. Ability to perform physical activities that require the use of arms and legs such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, climbing, stooping, and handling materials.
