Job description J ob Rigger Operator/CDL
A ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned by and or under the direction of a Foreman. Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, in order to ensure safety of workers and materials as directed by Foreman. Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability. Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools. Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules. Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain-falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment. Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, and/or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques. Align, level, and anchor machinery under direction or supervisor during training. Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools. Clean and dress machine surfaces and component parts. Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps. Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use. Assessing the need for and capabilities of various industry related equipment to in the rigging activities as assigned. Identifying various rigging techniques Adhering to all safety procedures. Accountability, maintenance, and minor repairs for all issued equipment. Performing additional tasks or duties as assigned by management. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Complete any required paperwork related to the project, job, or task. (ie. BOL, Logs, Job Sheets, Timesheets, etc.
TRAINING / LEARNING
(FOR
WORKING KNOWLDEGE
): Knowledge of the operational characteristics and capabilities of heavy equipment to include, but not limited to forklifts, cranes, carry deck, gantry post systems, etc. Knowledge of heavy lifting techniques and a basic understanding of the methods and procedures used in the rigging, lifting, securing and moving of machines. Knowledge of heavy rigging operations, to include: Knowledge of the use and application of rigging tools to include, but not limited to: Wire rope and wire rope slings Chain and fabric slings Woven wire slings Load binders, come along, and chain falls. Snatch blocks and block and tackle Swivels, hooks, and shackles Knowledge of lift capacity assessment, to include: Assessment of rigging attachments at a rescue site. Determination of the lift capacities of various types of rigging equipment through the interpretation of specification charts. Determination of the rated capacities of various slings and bridles from specification charts.
  • Knowledge of lift engineering applications, to include: Various hitch systems. Calculation of load application on sling systems. Raising systems.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and inspection procedures.
  • Knowledge in the use of anchor systems, to include: The use and application of fastening and anchoring devices. The knowledge of placement and loading principles. The understanding of anchor failure principles.
  • Knowledge of the methods of construction using any of the common building materials. Understanding of the construction techniques of architectural materials such as unreinforced masonry and concrete.
  • Knowledge of the capabilities of light construction equipment including, but not limited to, rotary impact drills, concrete saws, and core drills.
  • Knowledge of shoring methods and materials, to include: Knowledge of the abilities of various shoring materials such as air bags, jack shores, pneumatic, shores and timber. Ability to improvise and provide shoring with available materials.
  • Knowledge of techniques and ability to recognize and prevent potential problems.
  • Knowledge of universal hand signals for heavy equipment use (i.
e., cranes, forklifts, Bobcats, loaders)
SKILLS:
  • Demonstrated experience in heavy construction field, such as heavy equipment operator, crane operator, iron worker, rigger, or other applicable field.
  • Ability to use cutting torches and related welding equipment a plus.
TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS
Must be professional, able to work with team members and have the ability to work in stressful situations.
