Monday-Friday, generally 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; occasional Saturdays during peak season Bring Your Skills to a Specialty Trade Are you an experienced appliance installer, remodeler, finish carpenter, construction technician, or residential service professional who takes pride in completing clean, precise work? Dod Fireplace Installations is hiring an Experienced Installation Technician to install fireplaces, stoves, inserts, venting systems, chimney components, and related hearth products in residential homes and new construction. This is not an entry-level helper position. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of a job, work through field conditions, communicate professionally with customers and coworkers, and help develop less-experienced technicians. Fireplace experience is strongly preferred, but we will also consider accomplished candidates from appliance installation, remodeling, carpentry, roofing, cabinet installation, mechanical service, or similar hands-on residential work. What You'll Do Lead and complete residential fireplace and hearth installations safely, efficiently, and professionally. Install gas, wood, pellet, and electric fireplaces, stoves, inserts, venting systems, chimney components, mantels, and related products. Complete builder and retail rough-ins, finals, direct-vent installations, linear fireplaces, gas stoves, fire pits, flashing work, and site inspections. Review job information, measurements, manufacturer instructions, plans, and installation requirements before beginning work. Identify field conditions, troubleshoot installation challenges, and develop safe, practical solutions. Coordinate job-related questions with the office without making unauthorized scheduling, pricing, or scope commitments to customers. Document work accurately using job photos, notes, checklists, measurements, and company software. Protect customers' homes and property and leave each job site clean and orderly. Maintain an organized company vehicle, tools, equipment, materials, and assigned inventory. Coach and mentor Installation Associates while modeling safe work practices and company standards. Represent Dod Fireplace Installations professionally with homeowners, builders, inspectors, vendors, and coworkers. Minimum Qualifications Please apply only if you meet these requirements: At least two years of relevant installation, construction, remodeling, repair, mechanical, or residential field-service experience. Demonstrated ability to complete skilled hands-on work with limited supervision. Proficiency using common hand tools, power tools, ladders, measuring equipment, and installation materials. Ability to read and follow technical instructions, plans, specifications, and manufacturer installation manuals. Strong problem-solving skills and the judgment to stop and ask questions when conditions are unsafe or unclear. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Professional communication and conduct inside customers' homes. Valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable for operating company vehicles. Ability to lift and maneuver approximately 50-75 pounds. Ability to work on ladders and roofs and in attics, crawlspaces, unfinished construction, heat, cold, and changing weather conditions. Commitment to using required personal protective equipment and following company safety procedures. Journeyman Technicians are trusted to independently complete nearly all residential installations while mentoring Installation Associates. The career path includes:
Installation Associate → Journeyman Installation Technician → Master Installation Technician → Field Supervisor or Installation Manager Level II technicians are expected to maintain an active NFI Gas Specialist certification and an active NFI Woodburning or Pellet Specialist certification. Candidates without both certifications may be considered based on transferable experience and their ability to complete the required training and certification process.
