Job Description
Experienced Union Roofer Fenton, MI 48430 Full-time Full-time Position Summary The Roofer is a field-based role responsible for supporting the installation, repair, and restoration of commercial and industrial roofing systems. This position works as part of a crew to safely execute roofing scopes across a variety of job sites, including manufacturing facilities, power plants, and other industrial environments. At Niles, our roofing division focuses heavily on restoration systems , allowing us to extend the life of existing roofs rather than requiring full tear-offs whenever possible. Key Responsibilities Perform installation, repair, and restoration of industrial and commercial roofing systems Assist with surface preparation, cleaning, and coating application processes Apply various roofing materials including coatings, membranes, and fluid-applied systems Support roof inspections and identify damage, leaks, or deficiencies Work at heights and use fall protection systems in accordance with OSHA and company requirements Follow all project-specific work plans, safety procedures, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) Safely handle tools, equipment, and materials on active job sites Maintain a clean and organized work environment Communicate effectively with foremen, crew members, and supervisors Travel to job sites as required and work in varying outdoor conditions Safety Expectations Adhere to all OSHA construction safety standards, including fall protection and hazard communication Participate in daily safety meetings and actively identify unsafe conditions Stop work and notify leadership when hazards are present Demonstrate a commitment to Niles' safety-first culture on every job Required Qualifications 1+ years of roofing or general construction experience preferred Experience working at heights and in outdoor environments Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, climbing, walking, standing for extended periods) Basic knowledge of hand and power tools Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed Reliable transportation Ability to pass background check and drug screening Preferred Qualifications Experience with commercial or industrial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, coatings, etc.) Prior experience in restoration systems or fluid-applied roofing OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification or MUST Modules completed Union experience or willingness to join a union (based on project requirements) Niles Industrial Coatings is a proud Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
