Job Description

Full Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Specialist to support complex greenway, bridge, and boardwalk construction projects. Work takes place in remote, mountainous, and environmentally sensitive environments and requires strong construction experience, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to safety. Projects may include excavation, structural concrete placement, steel erection, carpentry, and rigging operations performed in challenging terrain. Construction Specialists work closely with crew leaders and project supervisors to complete technically demanding infrastructure projects while protecting the surrounding landscape. Key Responsibilities Excavation
  • Perform precision excavation using rock cutting, drilling, and breaking techniques in steep or confined environments with hand tools, hydraulic breakers, and specialized equipment Concrete Placement
  • Assist with structural concrete formwork, reinforcement placement, and controlled pours in challenging terrain and weather conditions Steel Erection
  • Assemble and install structural steel components in limited-access areas, often using rigging systems and aerial lifts Carpentry & Timber Construction
  • Construct and install boardwalks, platforms, bridges, and rail systems using structural framing and finishing techniques Rigging & Aerial Systems
  • Install and operate high lines, skylines, griphoists, and mechanical rigging systems for material transport in rugged or vertical environments Tool & Equipment Operation
  • Operate drills, saws, hydraulic tools, and other construction equipment used on remote project sites Helicopter Coordination
  • Assist with helicopter-supported construction including load rigging, safety spotting, and precision material placement in accordance with FAA and site safety standards (experience preferred, but not required) Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Follow OSHA safety regulations, fall protection standards, and Leave No Trace environmental practices in protected natural areas Crew Communication
  • Understand work directions, communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members, and maintain situational awareness on active construction sites Minimum Qualifications 2+ years of field construction experience in mountainous, remote, or high-angle environments Demonstrated proficiency with rock excavation techniques and power tools Strong understanding of rigging practices, including skyline and high line systems Ability to read construction drawings and interpret technical specifications Comfortable working at heights and in remote, physically demanding environments Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs across uneven terrain Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions Ability to follow job site safety procedures and OSHA safety standards Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members Valid driver's license and reliable transportation High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Experience with carpentry, timber construction, or rock work Chainsaw certifications NCCCO Rigger Certification or equivalent rigging training Wilderness First Aid or Standard First Aid Experience working on public lands (e.
g., National or State Parks) Familiarity with erosion control, water mitigation, and environmental best practices Welding or fabrication experience CDL License Working Conditions Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including steep, wet, and uneven terrain Work is physically demanding and requires standing, bending, crouching, lifting, and carrying loads up to 50 pounds over difficult terrain Employees frequently work on natural ground surfaces and in rugged backcountry environments Work environments may include noise, dust, grease, and conditions typical of active construction sites Employees regularly work near heavy equipment, moving machinery, and suspended loads Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, harnesses, and other safety gear is required daily Travel to project sites is required and may include extended stays near the job site Compensation & Benefits Monday through Thursday work schedule Competitive hourly wage or salary (commensurate with experience) Project completion incentives may be offered Housing provided when traveling Benefits that include a 401K program, PTO, and company profit share Training and employee development program

$21.00 – $25.00 per hour
