We have an excellent opportunity for a Roofing Repair Technician to join our growing team in the Richmond, VA metropolitan area. This position is responsible for independently diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining residential and light commercial roofing systems. Working with an assigned helper, this individual performs steep slope roofing work (asphalt shingle, slate, and metal) and low slope roofing work (TPO, EPDM, and Silicone systems), applying sound craftsmanship, safe work practices, and manufacturer-compliant repair methods. Role and Responsibilities
  • Independently diagnose the source of roof leaks, storm damage, and other performance issues on steep slope and low slope roofing systems, and determine the appropriate repair scope.
  • Perform repair and maintenance work on asphalt shingle, slate, and metal roofing systems, including flashing, valleys, penetrations, and ridge/hip details.
  • Perform repair and maintenance work on low slope/flat roofing systems, including TPO and EPDM membranes and Silicone roof systems.
  • Lead and direct an assigned helper on-site, assigning tasks, demonstrating proper technique, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Tredegar's quality standards.
  • Load, transport, and organize materials, tools, and equipment needed for each service call, and maintain the service vehicle in clean, safe, and operational condition.
  • Communicate directly and professionally with homeowners on-site: answer questions in plain language, explain repairs, and obtain customer sign-off on completed work scope.
  • Complete accurate job documentation, including before/after photos, scope of work performed, material usage, and time records, using company-provided tools or forms.
  • Identify and communicate additional repair needs or safety concerns discovered during a service call to the Service Manager for follow-up estimating or scheduling.
  • Follow all manufacturer installation and repair guidelines to preserve material and workmanship warranties.
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols, including fall protection, ladder safety, and proper use of personal protective equipment, on every job site.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times when representing Tredegar Construction in front of customers, neighbors, and the public.
  • Properly clean up each job site upon completion, including debris and nail/screw sweep, leaving the property in acceptable condition. Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in residential and/or light commercial roof repair, service, and maintenance (new construction/installation-only experience does not substitute).
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of both steep slope roofing materials and methods (asphalt shingle, slate, and metal) and low slope/flat roofing systems (TPO, EPDM).
  • Proven ability to accurately complete repair solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Prior experience leading or directing a helper or small crew in the field.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, with strong, professional customer service and communication skills for direct homeowner interaction.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturer warranty and installation requirements for common shingle, metal, and membrane roofing systems.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; able to safely operate a company service vehicle.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in varied weather conditions; able to climb ladders and work on roof surfaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry roofing materials and equipment up to 80 lbs. and to perform physically demanding work, including bending, kneeling, and climbing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred by not required; relevant trade school or manufacturer training certifications a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but does not substitute for required English fluency.
  • Detail oriented and punctual
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 80 lbs with proper safety precautions in place
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather, to include, but not limited to rain, extreme cold and heat Qualifications and Education Requirements
