Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic for direct hire opportunities supporting commercial HVAC construction projects in Stratford, CT and surrounding Connecticut job sites. This role is ideal for a licensed sheet metal professional who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, safe work practices, and accurate ductwork installation. The Sheet Metal Mechanic will fabricate, install, repair, and replace HVAC duct systems and related equipment on active commercial construction projects. This is a strong opportunity for a skilled tradesperson looking for stable, long-term work with a team-oriented environment, supportive field leadership, and the opportunity to contribute to high-quality commercial HVAC installations. Candidates who succeed in this role are dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable reading blueprints, and able to coordinate effectively with other trades while maintaining a safe and productive work area. Requirements Active Connecticut SM-1 or SM-2 Sheet Metal License Responsibilities Install, repair, and replace commercial HVAC sheet metal duct systems according to project specifications. Perform field layout, measurements, ductwork installation, and sheet metal modifications as needed. Fabricate and install sheet metal components, hangers, supports, duct connectors, grilles, diffusers, and related materials. Install HVAC equipment and components including rooftop units, air handlers, fans, exhaust systems, VAV boxes, and dampers. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, construction drawings, and project specifications. Seal, inspect, and test HVAC duct systems for proper operation, quality, and leakage control. Pay range:
$40 to $60 per hour.
