Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and energetic Sheet Metal Mechanic / Welder to join our dynamic fabrication and construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, installing, and repairing sheet metal components and structures across various projects. Your expertise in welding techniques, blueprint reading, and mechanical assembly will be essential to ensure high-quality craftsmanship that meets industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on Naval and Commercial Vessels , utilizing your technical skills to deliver durable and precise metal solutions. Duties Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide fabrication and assembly processes Perform TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and SMAW welding with precision according to project specifications and safety standards Fabricate sheet metal components using hand tools, power tools, press brake machines, plasma cutters, and machining equipment Measure and mark materials accurately with calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to ensure proper fitment Install ductwork, piping, structural supports, and other fabricated components on construction sites while adhering to ASME codes & standards Operate rigging equipment, forklifts, and other machinery safely for material handling and assembly tasks Follow schematics and blueprints for assembly of complex metal structures while maintaining strict quality control Requirements Proven construction site experience working with sheet metal fabrication and installation in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in GTAW welding techniques; experience with GTAW welding preferred Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment Knowledge of mechanical systems including pipe threading, soldering, machining, and rigging procedures Familiarity with ASME codes & standards relevant to metal fabrication and welding projects Basic math skills for measurements and calculations necessary during fabrication tasks Valid certification or experience in crane operation and forklift handling is a plus Strong understanding of safety protocols related to welding, rigging, construction sites, and machinery operation Join our team today to contribute your expertise in sheet metal work and welding! Pay:
$24.51 - $29.52 per hour
