Sheet Metal Fabrication Lead / Welder United Machining Service LLC Orlando, FL Job Details Full-time $22 - $32 an hour 23 hours ago Qualifications Machine shop presses Press brake machine Mechanical blueprint interpretation Press operation Blueprint specification interpretation Tooling TIG welding Blueprint dimension interpretation Joining process implementation SolidWorks Gas metal arc welding Full Job Description Overview United Machining Service, LLC is hiring an experienced Sheet Metal Fabrication Lead / Welder to build and manage our in-house fabrication capability. This is a hands-on role focused on bending, forming, welding, assembly, inspection, and coordination of outsourced laser-cut parts. The ideal candidate can take a sheet metal job from drawing to finished part, work independently, and manage outside laser suppliers to ensure cut parts meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate in-house sheet metal fabrication equipment, including press brake, shear, saw, notcher, roller, deburring tools, and forming equipment. Perform MIG/TIG welding on brackets, frames, guards, covers, panels, enclosures, and fabricated assemblies. Manage outsourced laser cutting suppliers, including RFQs, drawings, material requirements, delivery dates, and quality follow-up. Review blueprints, flat patterns, bend drawings, weld symbols, tolerances, and job instructions. Form, fit, weld, deburr, inspect, and finish sheet metal parts and assemblies. Work with aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, galvanized steel, and other common materials. Check parts using calipers, squares, angle gauges, tape measures, and inspection tools. Support prototype, low-volume, and production fabrication jobs. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized fabrication area. Help improve fabrication processes, tooling, fixtures, and supplier performance. Required Experience Minimum 10 years of hands-on sheet metal fabrication experience preferred. Strong press brake setup and operation experience. MIG/TIG welding experience required. Ability to read drawings and work independently. Experience managing or coordinating outside laser cutting suppliers preferred. Strong knowledge of bend allowance, tolerances, fit-up, welding, and inspection. Preferred Skills Experience with precision sheet metal parts, brackets, enclosures, guards, panels, and welded assemblies. Experience with aerospace, defense, medical, industrial, or CNC machining support work. Hardware insertion, tapping, countersinking, and sub-assembly experience is a plus. Autodesk Fusion or SolidWorks experience is an advantage. Ideal Candidate A practical, hands-on fabricator who can bend it, weld it, inspect it, and get it shipped .
