Job Description

Sheet Metal Mechanic Job Description We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic to join a large commercial construction project. This position is responsible for installing ductwork systems, fabricating sheet metal components, interpreting blueprints, and performing HVAC-related installations. The ideal candidate has experience with commercial ductwork, rooftop installations, and field fabrication while maintaining high safety and quality standards. Responsibilities
  • Install sheet metal ductwork systems, including rectangular, spiral, and oval duct.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and HVAC layouts.
  • Measure, fabricate, and modify ductwork and sheet metal components in the field.
  • Install hangers, supports, dampers, and other duct system components.
  • Perform rooftop cut-ins for fans, exhaust systems, and mechanical equipment.
  • Install and connect HVAC duct systems according to project specifications.
  • Ensure all work complies with project requirements, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, lifts, and other equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Coordinate with foremen, supervisors, and other trades to complete project milestones. Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience installing commercial sheet metal and ductwork systems.
  • Ability to install spiral, oval, and rectangular duct.
  • Strong blueprint reading and layout skills.
  • Experience with field fabrication of sheet metal components.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and duct installation methods.
  • Experience performing rooftop cut-ins and fan installations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • SST 10 Certification. Preferred Qualifications
  • Large commercial construction experience.
  • Experience leading crews or supervising installations.
  • Familiarity with NY commercial construction projects and safety requirements.

Full-Time Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Brooklyn, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
