Job Description

Sheet Metal TechnicianLocation:
San Antonio, TXPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal components and structures, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards. This role requires hands-on experience with installation processes and pneumatic tools, attention to detail, and the ability to read technical drawings and work from specifications.

Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to layout and fabricate sheet metal parts.

Perform installation of sheet metal components and assemblies in compliance with engineering and quality standards.

Operate air drills, rivet guns, and related pneumatic tools to drill, fasten, and secure assemblies.

Use hand and power tools for cutting, shaping, and forming sheet metal, ensuring accurate fit and finish.

Prepare and deburr parts using pencil grinders, countersinks, or other finishing tools to meet inspection criteria.

Verify dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments; perform quality checks and document results.

Select and install fasteners and temporary fixturing such as clecos and cleco pilers during assembly.

Work with manufacturing and routing teams to support production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.

Follow safety procedures, maintain a clean work area, and report any equipment or quality issues to supervisors.

Assist in troubleshooting assembly issues and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce rework.

QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship in sheet metal, aircraft structures, or a related trade preferred.

Proven experience with installation work and using air drills and rivet guns in a production or maintenance environment.

Solid ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings.

Familiarity with clecos and cleco pilers and proven experience using temporary fasteners during assembly.

Experience with rivet squeezers and countersinks (e.g., microstop countersinks) is preferred.

Experience using routers, pencil grinders, and other fabrication tools is a plus.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and working in a production environment is desirable.

Strong attention to detail, good manual dexterity, and the ability to maintain quality while meeting production targets.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team; effective communication skills and a commitment to safety.
