Job Title:
Solar Technician - Troubleshooting and Field Support Job Description This role provides hands-on technical support for solar energy systems installed on rooftops and carports. You will troubleshoot and repair SolarEdge-based systems, including optimizers, string wiring, and inverters, while working safely at heights with proper fall protection. The position is ideal for someone with practical solar experience who enjoys outdoor, field-based work and solving technical issues on site. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with solar panel systems installed on roofs and carports. Work directly with SolarEdge systems, including inverters, optimizers, and string wiring, to identify and resolve performance problems. Inspect and test solar components to ensure proper operation and compliance with system design. Perform hands-on repairs, replacements, and adjustments on solar equipment and related wiring. Use appropriate tools and test equipment to verify system performance and confirm successful repairs. Apply fall protection practices and equipment correctly while working at heights on rooftops and elevated carport structures. Follow established safety procedures and site protocols while working outdoors and around electrical equipment. Collaborate with other technicians and site personnel to coordinate work and minimize system downtime. Document work performed, including troubleshooting steps, repairs, and system status, in a clear and accurate manner. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Essential Skills Hands-on solar experience working with SolarEdge systems, including inverters, optimizers, and string wiring. Proficiency in troubleshooting solar energy systems and identifying faults in rooftop and carport installations. Ability to work safely at heights with proper fall protection training and practices. Experience performing general labor tasks associated with solar installation and maintenance. Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions while handling technical and physical tasks. Basic understanding of electrical principles as they apply to solar systems and components. Ability to follow technical instructions, safety procedures, and site-specific guidelines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when performing diagnostics and repairs. Work Environment This is an outdoor, field-based role working on solar installations located on rooftops and carports. You will work a 4/10 schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., which involves four 10-hour days each week. The position requires frequent work at heights using fall protection equipment and adherence to strict safety practices. You will regularly handle solar panels, inverters, optimizers, and string wiring, and use standard tools and test equipment in a variety of weather conditions. The environment is physically active and hands-on, with a focus on safe, efficient troubleshooting and repair of solar systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Carlsbad, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
