Hiring for Solar O&M Technician Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled O&M Technician to serve as the highest-level field technical resource in the region. This role involves diagnosing and resolving complex issues across a distributed portfolio of C&I and DG solar assets. The ideal candidate will possess strong autonomy, advanced troubleshooting skills, and the ability to determine true root causes rather than short-term fixes. This position is best suited for individuals with proven commercial or utility-scale O&M experience. Responsibilities Diagnose and resolve inverter faults, DC field issues, and AC-side electrical problems across DG and C&I systems. Perform insulation resistance testing, DC string isolation, current/voltage analysis, and inverter HMI diagnostics. Make independent field-level decisions to safely restore production. Support remote troubleshooting to minimize unnecessary dispatches. Demonstrate an ownership mindset across all assigned sites. Document root causes, corrective actions, and follow-ups clearly in work order systems. Complete JSAs and all safety requirements thoroughly. Ensure corrective actions are durable and technically sound. Set the example for troubleshooting and professionalism. Mentor junior technicians and apprentices in field settings. Promote consistent, safe, and disciplined diagnostic practices. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance across inverter systems, DC combiners, AC disconnects, and BOS components. Identify trends and recurring inverter issues. Manage spare parts usage and provide input on inventory requirements. Essential Skills 3+ years of commercial, C&I, or utility-scale solar O&M experience. Experience troubleshooting string or central inverter systems. Proficiency with multimeters, clamp meters, insulation resistance testing tools (meggers), and inverter HMIs. Ability to independently diagnose DC field and inverter electrical issues. Strong communication and leadership skills. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience reducing repeat inverter faults through systematic root-cause analysis. Familiarity with DAS/performance monitoring platforms.
