Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Solar Installer Instructor to lead the training and development of aspiring solar installation trainees. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise and teaching skills to deliver engaging instruction, develop comprehensive curricula, and ensure students gain practical, hands-on experience in solar energy systems. Duties Deliver engaging classroom instruction on solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including system design, installation procedures, safety protocols, and troubleshooting techniques Develop and update curriculum materials that incorporate industry standards, safety regulations such as OSHA, and emerging technologies in solar energy Conduct hands-on training sessions covering electrical wiring, mechanical assembly, and system commissioning using real-world equipment and simulated environments Teach related technical skills such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), automotive diagnostics, HVAC/R systems, plumbing, welding, electrical experience, and mechanical knowledge relevant to solar installation Assess student progress through practical demonstrations, written exams, and performance evaluations to ensure competency in core skills Maintain a safe learning environment by enforcing safety standards and best practices during all training activities Collaborate with industry partners to stay current on technological advancements and certification requirements like Blackboard learning management system integration Experience Proven experience in solar photovoltaic (PV) system installation or maintenance within the renewable energy industry Strong background in electrical work, HVAC/R systems, automotive repair, or manufacturing environments with hands-on mechanical knowledge Prior classroom teaching or adult education experience preferred; ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse learners Knowledge of OSHA safety standards applicable to construction, electrical work, HVAC/R systems, and manufacturing processes Familiarity with curriculum development for technical training programs and proficiency using educational tools such as Blackboard or similar platforms Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial automation systems, or aircraft maintenance is a plus Demonstrated ability to mentor students through practical exercises involving electrical wiring, mechanical assembly, plumbing, welding, or maintenance tasks Join us as a Solar Installer Instructor and play a vital role in empowering the next generation of renewable energy professionals!
