Job Description

Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Solar Installer/Technician to join our team at New York Electric and Solar. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting solar energy systems across various sites, including commercial and residential projects. Position Overview The Electrical Solar Installer is responsible for the safe, code-compliant installation and servicing of solar PV systems across residential and commercial job sites throughout the New York region. This is a hands-on field role working alongside licensed electricians and project managers to deliver high-quality results on every project. Key Responsibilities Install rooftop and ground-mount solar PV systems including panels, racking, inverters, combiners, and string wiring Perform all associated electrical work: AC/DC wiring, conduit runs, panel tie-ins, disconnects, and meter socket work per NEC and New York code Complete service calls, system diagnostics, and repairs on existing residential and commercial solar installations Conduct pre-installation site surveys, roof assessments, and shading analysis Pull permits and coordinate inspections with local AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) Work with monitoring platforms (SolarEdge, Enphase, SunPower) for system commissioning and troubleshooting Maintain job site safety, cleanliness, and OSHA compliance at all times Complete accurate job documentation, photos, and service reports in company systems Communicate professionally with property owners, GCs, and commercial clients Required Qualifications
NABCEP PV
Installation Professional (PVIP) certification OR equivalent state/nationally recognized solar certification 2+ years of hands-on solar PV installation experience — both residential and commercial Solid understanding of NEC electrical code and New York building code requirements Valid New York driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to work on rooftops, in attics, and in outdoor FNew York weather conditions Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work safely at heights Strong communication, documentation, and team collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications New York Journeyman or Master Electrician License (EC or ECA) OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Experience with commercial solar installations: carports, flat roofs, large-scale string systems Familiarity with SolarEdge, Enphase, and SunPower commissioning and monitoring What We Offer Competitive pay: $25-$30/hour based on experience, certifications, and license level Supportive team culture with experienced leadership Company vehicle and/or mileage reimbursement for qualifying roles Paid training and professional development opportunities Health benefits package (details provided at offer stage) Room to grow as NYES expands its residential and commercial portfolio
