Floor/Tile Setter

PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS

Mobility:

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, crouch, crawl, and kneel forextended periods. Regular movement throughout the hospital campus—includingconfined spaces, mechanical rooms, and roof access—is required.

Lifting & Carrying:

Must be capable of lifting and carrying tools, equipment, materials, and machinery components weighing up to 50 pounds independently. Assistance or lifting devices must be used for heavier loads in accordance with safety regulations.

Reaching & Manual Tasks:

Frequent reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, and handling of hand tools, power tools, and equipment. Precision and dexterity are required for tasks such as wiring, plumbing repairs, HVAC adjustments, and mechanical troubleshooting.

Repetitive Motions:

Must be able to perform repetitive mechanical tasks and maintenance routines such as tightening, hammering, drilling, wiring, and assembly work on a daily basis.

Visual & Auditory Requirements:

Sufficient vision (with or without correction) is necessary to identify parts, read blueprints, interpret gauges, and perform inspections. Adequate hearing is required to detect alarms, machine noise irregularities, and communicate effectively in noisy environments.

Cognitive Expectations:

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, interpret technical manuals, read safety signage and SDS (Safety Data Sheets), and comply with hospital policies and procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to high noise levels, electrical systems, hazardous chemicals, dust, fumes, vibration, and moving mechanical parts is expected. Some work is performed outdoors or in non-climate-controlled spaces. Must be able to tolerate variable weather conditions, hot boiler rooms, cold storage areas, and poorly ventilated spaces. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and respirators, is mandatory when indicated, in accordance with OSHA, CMS, and hospital safety protocols.
