Job Description

Install, repair, and replace ceramic, glass, marble, and granite tiles on floors, walls, and ceilings. Duties include preparing surfaces, precisely measuring areas, mixing adhesives, cutting and placing tiles, grouting joints, and applying sealants to ensure a durable, water-resistant, and visually appealing finish.
Key Responsibilities Surface Preparation:
Remove old coverings, clean surfaces, and apply waterproof membranes or backer boards to ensure a structurally sound foundation.
Layout and Measurement:
Measure areas, review blueprints, and lay out tile patterns symmetrically to avoid awkward cuts and waste.
Cutting:
Use specialized tools like wet saws, snap cutters, and grinders to accurately size tiles around obstacles, corners, and fixtures.
Installation:
Mix and apply mortar, mastic, or epoxy adhesives. Set tiles precisely, checking levels and using spacers for consistent alignment.
Finishing:
Pack grout into the joints between tiles, remove excess, and clean the surface. Apply sealants on natural stone to protect against moisture and stains.
Requirements and Qualifications Experience & Education:
Typically requires a High School Diploma or GED along with prior experience as a tile setter or apprentice.
Physical Stamina:
The role is physically demanding and requires continuous bending, kneeling, and the ability to lift heavy boxes of tile.
Technical Skills:
Strong mathematical and geometric skills are essential for calculating area and plotting complex patterns. Knowledge of power tools and various tile materials (porcelain, glass, natural stone) is required.

$24.00 per hour
