    Area Service Technician
  • Job Description
  • This role offers a long-term opportunity for a skilled Area Service Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain ground transportation and support equipment while providing exceptional customer service.
You will work both in a local facility and in the field, traveling frequently throughout the western United States and occasionally internationally, to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently and to train customers on proper use and maintenance.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with various ground support and ground transportation equipment at customer locations.
+ Perform mechanical repairs and adjustments to components and operating systems on products, equipment, and related parts. + Inspect, repair, and overhaul electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and HVAC systems on equipment. + Disassemble components and reassemble them correctly with minimal assistance, ensuring proper fit and function. + Use repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics to identify faults and implement effective repair solutions. + Conduct preventive maintenance, including inspections, adjustments, and component replacements, to reduce downtime. + Complete service repairs, service bulletins, and assigned training classes in a timely and accurate manner. + Provide on-site training to customer teams on how to properly operate, maintain, and repair equipment. + Collaborate with customer teams to identify issues and determine the best resolution for equipment problems. + Interact professionally with internal and external customers, maintaining a strong customer service focus while resolving issues. + Assemble, install, and commission equipment and components as needed in the field or at the facility. + Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to perform repairs, installations, and adjustments. + Document service work performed, including diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance. + Travel up to approximately 75% of the time, both domestically and internationally, to support customer sites. + Work safely in shop, plant, yard, and outdoor environments, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Essential Skills
  • + Minimum 3 years of service repair experience in ground power, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial systems, with some PLC and HVAC experience.
+ Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic repairing and troubleshooting mechanical equipment. + Good mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair. + Experience working with aviation or ground transportation equipment. + Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues using repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics. + Hands-on experience with electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC components. + Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for assembly, repair, and preventive maintenance. + Capability to disassemble and reassemble components with limited assistance while maintaining quality standards. + Strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes and determine effective solutions for customer issues. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with internal and external customers. + Basic computer skills to document work, access technical information, and complete required reports or training. + Ability to lift weights exceeding 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties. + Ability to work in all weather conditions, including outdoor environments at customer sites and in yard areas. + Valid driver's license with the ability to travel without restrictions, including international travel as needed. + Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 75% of the time, primarily throughout western states and occasionally internationally.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • + Experience with diesel-powered vehicles is preferred.
+ Experience in aviation environments or working with ground support equipment is highly desirable. + Field service experience, including travel to customer locations for on-site support and repairs. + Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics. + Experience performing preventive maintenance programs on mechanical and electrical equipment. + Comfort providing training and guidance to customer teams on equipment operation and maintenance. + Strong customer service mindset, with the ability to remain professional and composed while resolving challenging issues. + Ability to complete service bulletins and participate in technical training classes to stay current on products and systems. + Capability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

  • Work Environment
  • You will work in a combination of shop, manufacturing plant, and outdoor yard environments at a facility based in Boise, Idaho, as well as at customer sites throughout the western United States and occasionally internationally.
The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. when working at the home facility, with additional travel-based scheduling as needed to support customers. You will regularly work around ground support and transportation equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform repairs and maintenance. The position requires frequent work outdoors and in all weather conditions, including on customer sites such as airports, yards, and industrial locations. Travel will make up to approximately 75% of your time, involving domestic and some international trips, and you must be comfortable working in varied environments while adhering to all safety protocols.

  • This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boise, ID.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $36.06/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
