Mental Health America Southeast Florida/9MusesArtCenter Lauderhill, FL Job Details Part-time | Full-time $19 - $21 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Microsoft Word Computer operation Microsoft Outlook Computer literacy Fine Arts Arts Full Job Description We are looking for an art instructor, preferably a college student seeking a degree in fine arts, to teach beginner and intermediate level classes. This is a grant-funded position that enhances the quality and array of art opportunities offered at 9MusesArtCenter. 9MusesArtCenter is a drop-in center located in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We are a program of Mental Health America of Southeast Florida providing free peer-driven behavioral health support to adults with mental health and substance abuse disorders. The center has a fully functioning studio for fine arts classes and ceramic art. Participants may choose from a broad array of visual and performing arts. For more information on our drop-in center, please visit our website: 9musesartcenter.org Accountability for this position is to the 9Muses Studio Manager and to the Adult Services Director.
  • Provide art instruction at the Center and/or at Center outreach sites such as: drawing and painting in the mediums of acrylics, watercolor, pastels, graphite, etc., color theory, art history, and art appreciation.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained in wellness and consumer support activities.
  • Work with Center staff on curriculums and monthly calendar.
  • Work with the Studio Manager to maintain the catalog of art produced at the Center.
  • Work with Studio Manager/Exhibits Committee on inside and outside exhibits (cataloging, manifests, framing, labels, and hanging)
  • Work with the Studio Manager to assure the availability of materials and maintain an inventory of supplies sufficient to conduct classes.
  • Secure artist's bios and releases.
  • Conduct regular surveys of members to assure satisfaction and member input in program development.
  • Conduct guest tours at the studio and maintain updated member applications.
  • Wait on customers and take orders for 9Muses Frame Shop. Experience with matting and framing is not required but is preferred.
  • Must be computer literate and familiar with Office 365 products. (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Power Point, Word, One Drive, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Must have reliable transportation.
