Job Title:
Assembler Job Description This role focuses on assembling fabricated metal enclosures using hand and power tools in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will build, repair, and rework mechanical assemblies with close attention to detail, ensuring high-quality output and on-time completion of production requirements while following blueprints, diagrams, and written instructions. Responsibilities Assemble fabricated metal enclosures using a variety of hand and power tools. Operate power and hand tools, measuring devices, and instruments required for mechanical assembly. Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, diagrams, tape measurements (SAE and metric), and written instructions or procedures. Use tape measures accurately to perform precise measurements for assembly work. Perform large mechanical assemblies and related manufacturing tasks as needed. Complete troubleshooting steps for mechanical equipment in accordance with inspection procedure guidelines. Repair and rework assemblies efficiently while maintaining thorough and accurate workmanship. Meet production schedules by working effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Maintain high quality standards and ensure assemblies meet specifications and inspection criteria. Support all areas of the production floor as required, including assisting with other assembly or manufacturing tasks. Operate a forklift when needed, following all safety and operational guidelines. Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe, clean, and organized work area. Essential Skills Proven ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively in an assembly environment. Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures (SAE and metric) and other measurement instruments. Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints, diagrams, and written work instructions. Mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing or production setting. Capability to perform troubleshooting steps for mechanical equipment using established inspection procedures. Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high quality and on-time completion. Ability to support multiple areas of production as needed. Forklift operation experience or ability to learn and safely operate a forklift. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior large assembly experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience working with metal enclosures or similar fabricated metal products. Basic welding exposure or familiarity with welded assemblies is beneficial. Comfort using a variety of hand and power tools provided by the employer. Willingness to work night (3rd) shift and maintain consistent attendance. Openness to annual performance reviews and feedback for ongoing development. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates on a night (3rd) shift schedule, typically from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. The facility is clean and organized, with all necessary tools provided by the employer. The environment can be hot in the summer, but large doors remain open to improve airflow. Safety is a top priority, with established procedures and expectations to ensure a secure workplace. The role is based on a manufacturing floor where metal enclosures and large assemblies are produced, and employees work closely with hand and power tools, measuring devices, and mechanical equipment throughout the shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Machesney Park, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.70/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
