Job Description

Assembly Mechanic 3 POSITION SUMMARY The Assembly Mechanic is responsible for the hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical assembly, installation, troubleshooting, and testing of foundation drilling equipment. This role operates within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and requires forklift and crane operation training. Assembly Mechanics work across four skill levels, progressing from entry-level to advanced and assembly supervisory support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Level 1 - Entry-Level Mechanic Assemble components under supervision and with training. Learn basic hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. Operate hand and power tools safely. Follow written and verbal instructions. Work under guidance of Level 3 or higher. Level 2 - Intermediate Mechanic Perform electrical assembly to field components. Assemble and test basic mechanical equipment. Begin reading and interpreting schematics and drawings. Train Utility Mechanics. Assist in supervising Level 1 Mechanics. Level 3 - Advanced Mechanic Independently install common components and hydraulic lines. Assemble relay logic and micro-control electrical systems. Troubleshoot systems on the production floor. Read and interpret complex schematics and drawings. Provide engineering feedback on hydraulic/electrical designs. Supervise and mentor Levels 1 and 2 Mechanics.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise entry level mechanics and assist department Leads
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent. May be able to substitute relevant, practical experience in lieu of education.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Level 1 Entry-level experience with basic assembly tools. Limited knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems. Strong desire to learn and work independently. Level 2 Minimum two years working as a heavy equipment mechanic or similar. Working knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems. Working knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems. Experience with heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, backhoes). Exposure to mobile hydraulics and 12-24V electrical systems. Level 3 Minimum three years working as a heavy equipment mechanic or similar. Proficient in hydraulic and electrical systems. Skilled in relay logic and micro-control assembly. Ability to weld using stick and wire methods. Strong troubleshooting and schematic reading skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a high level of physical flexibility, strength, and stamina, including the ability to: see and assess drawings, photos, and written instructions; audibly hear verbal instructions and mechanical signals; and speak, read, write, and communicate effectively. Must have full range of body movement. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must maintain confidence and balance while working on ladders up to 12 feet tall. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, equipment, hot materials, moderate to extreme noise, fumes, and airborne particles. Must agree to wear any and all necessary personal protective equipment to include: Eye protection required to reduce risk of injury. Approved footwear required. Ear protection is required. Other PPE as necessary to perform duties. May occasionally need to travel. Must be 18 years old. Performs other related duties as assigned.
