Job Description
Description Yanmar Compact Equipment North America designs, manufactures and supports a complete range of compact equipment including compact track loaders, mini excavators, wheel loaders and construction equipment for use in such markets as construction, landscaping, utility, land management and agriculture. The products are sold primarily through a third party, independent dealer network. This position reports directly to Assembly Area Manager and is open to internal applicants only at this time. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, possess and demonstrate solid leadership abilities, safety hazard recognition and mitigation abilities to ensure a save work environment, a bias for quality, ability to properly articulate and reinforce our core values, maturity in treating others with dignity and respect, high integrity, natural team player, and show energy and motivation for accomplishing goals and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for leading team members and coordinating the daily activities within an assigned area. This includes training and monitoring production processes of a group of team members. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing a safe work environment, ensuring quality standards are being met, standard work is being performed, maintaining 5S levels, identifying and resolving quality issues, ensuring schedules are met, collecting data and maintaining visual performance metrics, participating in Kaizen Events, and filling in for absent team members on an as needed basis.Safety:
- Creates and maintains a Collaborative, Team-Oriented culture where safety is the top priority
- Continually monitors work environments for any unsafe conditions or behaviors exhibited by TM's and takes necessary action to mitigate issues as they occur
- Positively reinforces safe behaviors exhibited by TM's in the work area
- Personally exhibits safe working behaviors and holds TM's accountable to the safety standards that have been established
- Promptly addresses any raised safety issue or concern
- Follows all injury reporting and investigation procedures in the event of an accident
Quality & Schedule Adherence:
- Studies daily production schedules and estimates team members hours and materials needed to complete assignments
- Interprets blueprints, specifications, and job orders such as engineering change notices to team members, makes and participates in assignments and conducts inspections of work
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment and tools that improve quality, workflow, efficiency, and team-member safety
- Trains new team members; communicates company philosophies and policies, teaches and demonstrates work routines
- Maintains records of day-to-day activity including time and materials and process steps
- May set up and/or verify settings on production machines
- May inspect materials used in the manufacturing of ASV Products
- Assembles equipment components, sub-assemblies, and accessories as required for the assigned stage of production and in coordination with a small team of co-workers
- Operates a variety of handheld and power-assisted tools and production fixtures
- Enters and retrieves production information onto a computerized data entry screen or a custom-designed form
- Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position
Requirements Qualifications:
This Team Lead position must demonstrate the ability to effectively lead team members and foster a team oriented, collaborative environment.- Technically the position requires a complete understanding of assembly and sub-assembly processes in the area of assignment sufficient to lead a team throughout their assigned responsibilities, train new team members, examine work results, and assemble equipment.
- Requires a working knowledge in the usage of automated production machinery, common hand tools, hand held power tools, fabricating equipment, and portable air tools such as a ratchet.
- Requires a working knowledge of all related safety, quality and standard work procedures.
- Requires sufficient communication and human relations skills to conduct one-on-one training and achieve harmony among team members.
- Requires sufficient problem-solving skills to troubleshoot situations such as labor and material shortages, tool and equipment problems, while maintaining productivity.
