Essential Skills & Competencies Familiar with small hand tools, including electric and air powered tools, soldering iron, and automated assembly equipment Detail-oriented, able to work carefully with small parts Can work independently and complete tasks with basic supervision Basic computer skills; familiar with common ERP and Office software Basic math skills Able to read and understand prints, specifications, drawings, schematics, Bill of Materials, etc. Effective written and verbal communication skills Able to work well in a team Purpose of the Job The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling electronic components and devices, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and maintaining high-quality standards. This role requires a background in manufacturing, electronics assembly is highly preferred, a meticulous approach to work, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Essential Job Responsibilities Safety Compliance:
Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times, ensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, handle hazardous materials appropriately, report safety concerns to supervisors, etc.
Electronic Assembly:
Perform assembly tasks following detailed standard work instructions, specifications, blueprints, and/or diagrams to build electronic components, devices, or sub-assemblies. This may include soldering, wiring, crimping, gluing, etc. and attaching components using hand tools and/or automated equipment.
Quality:
Inspect components and finished products for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards and specifications. Identify, report, and troubleshoot when necessary, any issues or malfunctions during the assembly process and take corrective actions, as necessary. Assist in keeping Work Standards and Job Breakdown documentation accurate, up-to-date, and maintained according to the QMS. Participate as needed in the resolution of customer quality concerns.
Test and Documentation:
Perform on-line test and inspection using electronic test equipment, and/or other measuring instruments, ensuring parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assembly activities, including completed tasks, quality checks, and any issues encountered. Prepare reports and documentation as required by the quality management system.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing assembly processes, increasing productivity, improving quality processes, and reducing waste. Actively contribute ideas for process enhancements and implementing approved changes.
Team Collaboration:
Actively collaborate with team members, including engineers, supervisors, and quality control associates, to achieve production goals and resolve technical challenges. Communicate any process improvements or suggestions for enhancing efficiency and quality.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance on assembly equipment, ensure tools and equipment are clean, calibrated, and in proper working condition. Promptly report any equipment malfunctions or abnormalities.
