Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Assistant Cheerleading Coach to support the sideline and competitive cheerleading program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for student development, spirit leadership, and teamwork while helping create a positive and structured environment focused on safety, skill development, school spirit, and education-based athletics. The Assistant Cheerleading Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Coach and Athletic Department to support all aspects of the cheer program, including practices, game-day responsibilities, competitions, athlete development, and team culture. The coach will serve as a positive role model who promotes teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and school pride.
Key Responsibilities:
Sideline Spirit Leadership:
Assist in coordinating and leading cheer performances at home football and basketball games. Help promote school spirit and positive game-day experiences. Support the teaching of cheers, chants, crowd engagement, and sideline routines.
Competitive Cheerleading Support:
Assist with the preparation and execution of competitive routines in alignment with MIAA standards. Support practices, conditioning, choreography, and competition preparation. Help prepare athletes mentally and physically for regional and state competitions.
Athlete Development & Safety:
Teach and reinforce proper stunting, tumbling, motions, and choreography techniques in a safe environment. Follow NFHS and MIAA safety guidelines, including proper spotting and progression techniques. Assist in monitoring athlete health, injuries, and concussion protocols.
Team Culture & Leadership:
Promote an inclusive and respectful team environment built on accountability, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Encourage confidence, leadership, and personal growth among student-athletes. Support captains and team leadership initiatives.
Academic Support & Communication:
Encourage student-athletes to maintain academic eligibility and positive school citizenship. Communicate effectively with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, athletes, and families. Help reinforce team expectations, schedules, and program communication.
Program Support:
Assist with equipment management, fundraising efforts, team events, and travel logistics as needed. Collaborate with the Head Coach and Athletic Department to ensure smooth program operations. Compliance with

Guidelines:
Must maintain or complete required certifications including: NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Concussion in Sports First Aid & CPR Cheerleading-specific safety training (AACCA/USA Cheer preferred) MIAA Coaching Education Program

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Previous cheerleading experience as a participant, coach, or instructor. Knowledge of sideline and/or competitive cheer techniques and safety practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching staff. Must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience at the youth, middle school, high school, or all-star level. Certification through
AACCA, USA
Cheer, or similar safety organizations. Experience supporting competition preparation and routine development. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive student-athlete experience.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.
