Assistant Director 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars Duluth, GA 30096 From $38,000 a year - Full-time Primrose Schools 3,399 reviews From $38,000 a year - Full-time Position Summary The Assistant Director is a key member of the leadership team at Primrose School of Duluth West and plays a vital role in ensuring the school operates smoothly, safely, and in accordance with all Primrose standards and state licensing requirements. This position supports the School Director and Franchise Owners in overseeing daily operations, maintaining health and safety compliance, leading family engagement and enrollment efforts, and fostering a positive and professional culture for staff, children, and families. The Assistant Director serves as a visible leader within the school and assumes responsibility for school operations in the Director's absence. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & School Operations Support the Director and Franchise Owners in the day-to-day management of school operations. Oversee staff scheduling, classroom coverage, and ratio compliance. Assist with recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and ongoing staff training. Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching to teachers and support staff. Monitor staff performance and help implement improvement plans as needed. Ensure operational excellence during opening and closing procedures. Maintain organized records and administrative documentation. Health, Safety & Licensing Compliance Ensure full compliance with all Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) regulations, health and safety standards, and Primrose policies. Conduct regular audits of classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas to ensure safe and clean environments. Oversee incident and accident reporting procedures and follow-up communications with families. Monitor emergency preparedness, including fire drills, lockdown drills, and evacuation procedures. Maintain required licensing files, staff credentials, and training records. Ensure proper medication administration, sanitation, and food safety procedures are followed. Admissions, Enrollment & Family Engagement Lead school tours and provide a warm, informative experience for prospective families. Follow up with inquiries and assist families through the enrollment process. Support retention efforts by building strong relationships with current families. Coordinate family events, conferences, and school communications. Address parent questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy. Promote a welcoming and inclusive school culture. Customer Experience Serve as a visible and approachable leader during arrival and dismissal. Ensure families and visitors are greeted warmly and professionally. Resolve concerns promptly and maintain high levels of family satisfaction. Support initiatives that enhance the overall school experience. Curriculum & Classroom Support Collaborate with teachers and the Curriculum Director to ensure high-quality implementation of the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum. Monitor classroom environments for engagement, organization, and instructional quality. Support teachers with behavior management and child development strategies. Team Culture & Collaboration Foster a positive, supportive, and accountable workplace culture. Model professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. Encourage teamwork, open communication, and continuous improvement. QualificationsEducation Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience in early childhood leadership may be considered. Experience Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in early childhood education. Prior leadership or administrative experience in a childcare or preschool setting preferred. Knowledge of Georgia DECAL licensing requirements strongly preferred. Certifications Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Must meet all state licensing requirements for childcare administrators. Skills & Competencies Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Proficiency with administrative software such as Procare and Microsoft Office. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Physical Requirements Ability to move throughout the school and playground. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
