  • Full-time Assistant Director North Stonington's Early Learners (NSEL) About Us North Stonington's Early Learners is an early childhood program committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children, families, and staff.
We take pride in maintaining strong relationships, consistent routines, and a team-focused culture, while aligning our practices with NAEYC standards and CT OEC licensing regulations. Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and organized Assistant Director to help lead the day-to-day flow of our center. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with both children and adults, is highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Assistant Director plays a key role in supporting staff, maintaining communication with families, building staff and child schedules, and helping ensure the center runs smoothly and consistently each day. What You'll Do Support Daily Center Leadership Help ensure classrooms are running smoothly and maintaining appropriate ratios Support the overall daily flow of the center Step into classrooms as needed to support staff and maintain compliance Support Staff & Scheduling Handle staff scheduling and daily coverage needs, including call-outs and scheduling substitutes. Help ensure classrooms remain appropriately staffed throughout the day Provide guidance and support to teaching staff Assist with onboarding and training new team members Family Communication Respond to emails, phone calls, and voicemails in a timely and professional manner Build positive, respectful relationships with families Support clear and consistent communication aligned with program policies Enrollment & Tours Support maintaining full enrollment Assist in building, updating, and managing the program's online waitlist Facilitate program tours and follow up with prospective families Respond to inquiries and help guide families through the enrollment process Compliance & Program Quality Support compliance with CT OEC licensing regulations Assist in maintaining NAEYC standards and best practices Help monitor classroom environments for safety, organization, and quality Assist with documentation, incident reports, and required records Administrative Support Help maintain the organization of child and staff records Assist with daily documentation and internal systems (ProCare or similar) Support general office tasks to keep the center running smoothly What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is: Organized, very reliable, and proactive Comfortable supporting both staff and families A strong communicator with a professional and approachable demeanor Able to multitask and problem-solve throughout the day Flexible and willing to step in where needed Qualifications Experience in early childhood education required Strong understanding of child development and classroom environments Excellent communication and organizational skills Degree in
Early Childhood Education, Organizational Leadership, or Business Management Preferred:
