Job Description

Short Description Bowman has an opportunity for an Assistant Director of Aircraft Maintenance to join our team in Chesterfield, MO. Purpose Ensures the highest level of safety and maximizes aircraft availability through planning, organizing, and directing maintenance activities that continuously improve operations. Provides accurate and actionable reporting on aircraft availability, maintenance activities, facilities, parts, and safety. Effectively leads team in accordance with the Company's mission and values.
Responsibilities Aircraft Availability Management Initiation of Maintenance:
Proactively manage both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities while keeping meticulous records to facilitate a seamless operational flow.
Maintenance Records:
Maintain comprehensive documentation for all maintenance activities, ensuring a detailed history is kept for each aircraft.
Aircraft Appearance:
Oversee the upkeep of the aircraft's aesthetic condition, adhering to high standards of presentation and professionalism.
Procedure Updates:
Regularly review and amend maintenance procedures by incorporating insights from the latest service bulletins and research, ensuring all practices are current and effective.
Availability Tracking:
Monitor and report on the availability of aircraft, meticulously tracking days when aircraft are in and out of service.
Continuous Improvement:
Evaluate current processes and recommend enhancements aimed at increasing aircraft uptime and operational readiness.
Safety Systems and Process Management Risk Management:
Develop and maintain a Risk Management framework that encompasses hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation strategies.
Safety Training:
Identify necessary training programs to ensure a high level of safety and competence among the maintenance team and flight crews.
Best Practices Training:
Conduct and facilitate ongoing training sessions to instill best practices for fleet maintenance within the team.
Hangar Maintenance:
Ensure the hangar workspace remains a model of organization, cleanliness, and safety, upholding the highest standards for a secure working environment.
Safety Committee Participation:
Act as a vital member of the Safety Committee, contributing to the development and enforcement of safety protocols and measures.
Quality Control Compliance Quality Inspections:
Oversee rigorous quality inspections throughout various stages of aircraft inspection, fabrication, major repairs, or alterations, guaranteeing adherence to the highest industry standards.
Regulatory Adherence:
Ensure all maintenance and repair work complies with relevant regulatory and industry standards, as well as accepted best practices.
Inspection Tool Calibration:
Manage the schedule for periodic testing and calibration of inspection tools, maintaining the accuracy and reliability of equipment.
Team Leadership and Development Team Management:
Drive team performance through effective hiring, training, coaching, and development practices that align with the Company's mission and values.
Performance Feedback:
Provide regular, constructive performance evaluations and feedback to foster professional growth and development within the team.
Policy Adherence:
Champion adherence to Company policies and procedures, setting a standard for compliance and ethical conduct.
Communication:
Ensure open, timely, and effective two-way communication within the team to promote a positive work environment and facilitate collaborative problem-solving. Qualifications Required:
Current Licensures:
FAA A&P with Inspection Authorization (IA). Five or more (5+) years of A&P mechanic experience. Two or more (2+) years of maintenance management experience (which may have been earned concurrently with mechanic and/or quality experience). Analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail. Technical skills and ability to understand blueprints, documents, and manuals. Proficient with Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Strong leadership skills and teamwork mentality. Sense of urgency to meet deadlines and commitments while still meeting standards. Ability to influence others to follow rules and regulations. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. A Safety and Quality First attitude. Ability to multitask and prioritize.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in aviation management, business management, systems management, or a related field. Three or more (3+) years of quality control experience (which may have been earned concurrently with A&P mechanic experience). Five or more (5+) years of maintenance management experience (which may have been earned concurrently with mechanic and/or quality experience). Physical Demands and Working Environment Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds from floor to waist height. Visual acuity as needed to inspect and repair equipment. Manual dexterity as needed to make repairs. Physically able to sit, stand, walk, drive Aircraft Tug, Forklift, and Company vehicles. Physically able to access file cabinets/shelving, aircraft undercarriage, scaffolding, etc., working at various heights and underneath aircraft. Ability to speak and hear clearly to exchange accurate information with customers, employees, and related business professionals.
Work Environment:
Temperature-controlled office environment. Airplane hangar. Exposure to odors, sound, and weather. Occasional long and variable hours may be required. #LI-FS1
