We're searching for hospitality-driven leaders who know how to balance finesse with hustle: the kind of managers who can curate unforgettable guest experiences while also jumping into the beautiful chaos of an opening week with sleeves rolled up and standards high. ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER
This job description outlines the primary duties and responsibilities of the role; however, it is not intended to be an exhaustive list. Duties, responsibilities, and expectations may be modified, added, or removed. Focus on building sales and increasing top line revenues Focus on food, alcohol, and labor costs at or below budget Strive to create high check averages through proper training techniques On-going staff training emphasizing knowledge and excitement about our menu so they have the ability to suggest and up sell at every table Restaurant Operations Mentor and challenge employees to focus on development and growth; evaluate and train all Front of House employees promoting a high level of knowledge and efficiency Ensure that all employees are following the steps of service that have been outlined and that they are being held accountable if they do not Manage posting for open front of house positions and select candidates for interview with the General Manager Ensure serve safe, food handlers, sexual harassment cards and up to date and kept on file Conduct 90 day and annual reviews for Front of House employees Update all training manuals to ensure that any changes that need to be made are done Ensure menu is up to date on the website with any new items Gain a complete understanding of the systems in place i.e Toast, Perfect Venue, OpenTable, Radar scheduler etc. Focus upon conservation throughout the entire property; save energy and water wherever possible - THINK GREEN! Recycle and reuse where appropriate Understand California Labor Laws and use good judgment when dealing with your Team members. When in doubt, ALWAYS ask your supervisor Complete server / host / support schedules to be posted in accordance with California labor regulations Clear & Concise Communication Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the Management team Attend and participate in the weekly Management meetings Provide weekly reports for front of house labor and restaurant sales, consistently every Wednesday (with or without in person meetings) If an employee is to be terminated contact the General Manager + Director of Operations before dismissal to discuss the termination. Follow proper steps for discharge or voluntary resignation, ensuring paperwork is completed with a witness Create clear communication with Financial Offices to understand the accounting needs and processes on a weekly basis Always keep the best interest of the Guest and the restaurant in mind; do not be afraid to makesuggestions and voice concerns Build and maintain a strong working relationship with all vendors Maintain high standards performance for all FOH team and maintain consistency in coaching and counseling to hold team accountable for those standards. Restaurant Morale Lead by example and set the standard Maintain a professional relationship with all employees Help create an environment in which employees excel and the Guests feel the energy Participate in the building of a successful team; strive for recognition as the best restaurant in the Coronado dining scene Set the pace and standards for the team to follow Maintain the brand of By The Sea Hospitality Always focus on showing a presence on the floor Constantly focus on execution and exceeding Guests' expectations Focus on service; set high standards Build Guest satisfaction by exceeding guest's expectations during their dining experience at By The Sea Achieve Guest Service Feedback and YELP scores of 5 stars Maintain an ownership mentality; make the differencePay:
