Job Description

Assistant Hotel Operations Manager [Hotel Mgmt Experience Reqd] Traverse City, MI 49696 $48,000
  • $52,000 a year
  • Full-time $48,000
  • $52,000 a year
  • Full-time Are you a hands-on leader who takes pride in a spotless result and a fired-up team?
At Spotless Stay Solutions, we don't just manage — we roll up our sleeves, lead from the front, and hold ourselves to the same standard we set for everyone else. As a family-owned and operated company, we're building something special in Northern Michigan, and we need a sharp, driven Assistant Operations Manager to help us get there. This isn't a desk job. It's an operations role where your mornings might start with a staffing puzzle and end with you jumping in to assist your team on a daily basis. If that sounds like your kind of day, keep reading. What You'll Own Team Leadership & Training You'll be the expert for onboarding and training a high-performing Housekeeping and Property Host team that shows up proud and works with purpose. The property host team is the legs of the operation; running around delivering supplies, unpacking boxes, swapping out items like coffee makers, and doing light maintenance. You'll lead scheduling for the Property Host Team (think a houseman/junior maintenance tech) and train the team on the PMS (Kontrol) and Breezeway (Task Management). Lead performance conversations with honesty and care — coach wins, and make the hard calls when needed. Build a team culture where accountability and positivity aren't opposites — hard conversations are a positive when we're investing in our team. Quality Control & Housekeeping Own quality across our properties and ensure standards are met consistently — every unit, every time. Conduct daily property inspections and correct issues as you see them—we don't hand them off. Oversee Housekeeping five days a week at the Boardwalk & Loop—assign tasks in Breezeway (our task management system) and manage the team's time as the day progresses. Spot patterns and share candid feedback with upper management on team performance. Respond quickly and decisively to service issues before they become reputation issues. You're not above the work — you're in it. When things break, you're willing to turn a unit to get it guest-ready. When you personally turn a unit, it's spotless, and you take pride in getting your hands dirty. Hospitality Operations The operations experience is your domain: you research and project-manage new initiatives like parking, inventory management, and overall operational efficiency. You own the inventory management system and ordering cadence for the whole market. You stick to budget and make the right calls on what to prioritize in a crunch. You plan and execute guest requests — from magical moments that make guests feel special, to simple restock requests, all the way to removing broken chairs in units. The vendor rolodex is your wheelhouse: you know who to call, when, and if we don't have a contact, you do the research to build new relationships — from linen vendors to local maintenance vendors and handymen. You don't shy away from a maintenance side projects — touch-up paint, or snaking a drain — to ensure the guest can check in on time. (Don't worry, you aren't expected to be a building engineer!) You are the master of your roadmap: you generate ideas, assign yourself tasks, provide updates, and execute flawlessly (sometimes chaotically!) and on time. Who You Are You have 2+ years of hotel operations management experience
  • — you know the rhythms, the headaches, and the wins You are comfortable being on-call for the properties 3 nights a week, and answering questions or calling the right person You lead by example.
When the team is slammed, you don't watch from the sidelines — everyone gets in the operation at Spotless Stay to clean or problem solve , including the owners, You communicate clearly, and are always open to feedback You hold a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to move between properties You're willing to learn new tools like: Kontrol (PMS), Kustomer (Messaging), Dialpad (Calls), Notion (Task/Project Management), Breezeway (Task Management) and Slack (Internal Comms). You understand the importance of documentation: SOPs, share-outs, written updates, and keeping your project roadmap up to date.
