Assistant ICU Director Near Birmingham, AL

Baptist Shelby Hospital, located just outside of Birmingham in Alabaster, Alabama, is seeking a full-time ICU assistant medical director to join our team! The ICU AMD at Baptist Shelby serves as a clinical and operational leader within the critical care program. In partnership with the ICU medical director, this role supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while advancing clinical excellence, physician engagement, and operational efficiency across the ICU. The AMD will split responsibilities between direct patient care and administrative/leadership functions, serving as a key liaison between clinicians, hospital leadership, and multidisciplinary teams. Clinical and Administrative Duties Provide direct critical care services in the ICU, including evaluation, diagnosis, and management of critically ill patients Maintain high standards of clinical quality, patient safety, and evidence-based practice Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and case management Participate in ICU call coverage and scheduling as required Support the ICU medical director in overseeing daily operations of the ICU program Assist with clinician scheduling, staffing models, and coverage optimization Ready to join TeamHealth?
