Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on General Manager to oversee the daily operations of a countertop fabrication and installation company serving residential and commercial customers throughout the Birmingham metro area. The General Manager will be responsible for leading operations, sales coordination, customer service, fabrication, scheduling, installation, and overall business performance. This role requires a strong operational leader who can improve efficiency, maintain quality standards, drive profitability, and build a high-performing team culture. The ideal candidate has experience in countertop fabrication, cabinetry, stone surfaces, millwork, construction materials, manufacturing, or related industries and understands the balance between customer satisfaction, production efficiency, and profitability in a fast-paced environment. Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Management Oversee day-to-day operations including sales support, scheduling, fabrication, installation, and customer service. Ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. Coordinate communication between departments to improve workflow and reduce errors. Monitor production schedules, installation timelines, and operational bottlenecks. Develop and improve operational procedures and accountability systems. Team Leadership Lead and manage office staff, project coordinators, production personnel, and installers. Establish clear performance expectations and operational standards. Recruit, train, coach, and develop employees. Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on accountability and customer satisfaction. Financial & Business Oversight Manage budgets, labor efficiency, operational costs, and profitability.
Monitor KPIs such as:
gross margin, remake percentage, installation completion rates, labor productivity, and customer satisfaction. Assist ownership with forecasting, staffing, and operational planning. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and increase profitability. ustomer & Sales Support Support customer relationship management and ensure high service standards. Assist with resolving escalated customer concerns professionally and promptly. Work closely with sales staff, builders, contractors, designers, and commercial clients. Help support business growth through operational excellence and responsiveness. Process Improvement & Technology Help implement operational systems, scheduling tools, and reporting processes. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs). Promote continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization. Utilize reporting and operational data to improve decision-making and efficiency. Qualifications 5+ years of management or operations leadership experience. Experience in countertop fabrication, cabinetry, millwork, construction materials, manufacturing, or related industries preferred. Strong understanding of fabrication, scheduling, installation, and customer service workflows. Proven leadership and team management skills. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Financial and operational management experience. Experience with CRM, ERP, scheduling, or production management software preferred. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced operational environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing small-to-mid-sized operational businesses. Process improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Strong communication and leadership skills.
