Job Description

Line Cook / Chef Assistant - Job Description The Line Cook / Chef Assistant plays a key role in supporting the Executive Chef and ensuring smooth, efficient operations in the kitchen. This position is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes according to restaurant standards, assisting with daily prep work, maintaining cleanliness, and keeping a well-organized station during service.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook menu items consistently according to recipes and presentation standards Assist the Chef with prep tasks, including chopping, marinating, portioning, and organizing ingredients Maintain a clean, sanitized, and orderly workstation at all times Support the Chef during service by ensuring timely production and proper plating of dishes Help receive, rotate, and store inventory following food-safety guidelines Follow all kitchen safety protocols, including proper handling of equipment and food Communicate effectively with the Chef and team to ensure a smooth service flow Assist with closing duties: cleaning, labeling, storing ingredients, and resetting stations Step into other kitchen tasks as needed, supporting a team-oriented environment
Qualifications:
Prior line cook or kitchen experience preferred Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately Strong teamwork and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment Knowledge of food safety and sanitation rules Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude are essential
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 lbs, and work in a hot environment www.thegalleysitka.com
