We are a design build company, specializing in creating beautiful, sustainable gardens and usable outdoor spaces. Primarily focusing on residential, in creating concepts, we aim for lush, beautiful aesthetics, along with functionality. We have installed many rain gardens for the city, created bee and butterfly, and pollinator gardens, completed mitigated stormwater runoff projects, and have contributed to the beautification of the landscape of Ann Arbor. We pride ourselves on creativity, accountability, expertise, attention to detail, and an excellent customer experience. We have won several public recognition awards and publications from works from the city, newspapers, and local newsletters. We were featured in the 29th annual Garden Walk tour last June. We have many big-name clients, including those in the upper echelons of the Michigan athletic department. Current openings are for a landscape designer looking to perform customer consultations, create designs, prepare bids, calculate quotes, facilitate design installation, and work to assist the head foreman and other crew members.Worker attributes:
Ability to perform on-site customer consultations, gather property measurements and take photos, create designs that are to scale, and render plan view designs. Will then need to calculate materials, prepare a cost quote, and create a written proposal/bid and then present to the customer on-site to ultimately close the sale. Candidate needs to be able to read landscape design/construction documents, and be able to assist the foreman and crew members at the job site to complete the installation according to the scale plan. Prior experience and education in the field of horticulture/landscape architecture is required. Must have great communication and professionalism with client relationships. Must demonstrate a professional appearance at all times, be great at following industry standards, and understand horticultural methods. Must have a can-do attitude. Taking the above attributes as a landscape designer and: Collaborate with team members on project planning, including construction estimating, budgeting, and scheduling. Contribute to the drafting of construction documents, hardscape details, irrigation layouts, and landscape maintenance plans. Support project management tasks such as tracking project progress, coordinating with nurseries and suppliers, and ensuring adherence to design specifications. Knowledge of horticulture practices and landscaping techniques. Familiarity with construction processes including hardscape installation and landscape maintenance. Understanding of sustainable design principles and environmental considerations in landscape architecture. Strong drafting skills with attention to detail; excellent project management abilities are a plus. Effective communication skills for collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. Must have reliable transportation, commit to a part-time schedule, including occasional Saturdays as needed. A contract period will be signed upon hire. The business season operates from March until Thanksgiving. Wages are $30-35/hr, commensurate with skills, and very competitive. A commission is also offered as well.
