Job Description
Position Summary The Assistant Manager / Tasting Room Supervisor serves as the second-in-command to the Director of Hospitality and plays a critical leadership role in the day-to-day success of the tasting room and DTC operations. This position is responsible for overseeing front-of-house service, maintaining elevated hospitality standards, managing staff performance, and ensuring seamless execution across guest experience, wine club, and online sales channels. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a balance of floor management, administrative oversight, and strategic support for DTC growth. Key Responsibilities Tasting Room Operations & Floor Leadership Lead daily tasting room operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences at all times Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) when the Director of Hospitality is unavailable Oversee floor flow, guest engagement, and service execution during peak and off-peak hours Maintain and enforce hospitality standards consistent with a luxury wine experience Troubleshoot and resolve guest concerns in real time with professionalism and care Team Leadership & Accountability Supervise, coach, and develop tasting room staff to uphold service and sales standards Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and employee handbook guidelines Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training of team members Manage staff scheduling, shift coverage, and labor efficiency Conduct performance check-ins and provide constructive feedback Guest Relations & Experience Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, wine club members, and VIP clientele Ensure a seamless and personalized experience across all guest touchpoints Handle escalated customer service issues and follow through to resolution Support private tastings, events, and high-touch hospitality experiences Wine Club & DTC Management Oversee wine club operations including sign-ups, retention strategies, and member engagement Support club releases, allocations, and fulfillment coordination Monitor and drive DTC sales performance both in-person and online Assist in developing strategies to grow membership and increase customer lifetime value E-Commerce, Marketing & Campaign Support Assist with website updates, online store management, and digital merchandising Support execution of email marketing campaigns, promotions, and seasonal offers Collaborate on digital campaigns and initiatives to drive online and tasting room traffic Monitor performance of campaigns and provide feedback for optimization Systems & Administrative Oversight Ensure accurate use of POS/CRM systems, including Commerce7 Maintain clean and accurate customer data, sales tracking, and reporting Oversee reservation systems, guest communications, and booking flow Assist with inventory coordination and product availability for the tasting room Qualifications 3-5+ years of experience in hospitality, wine industry, or retail management Proven leadership experience with team supervision and floor management Strong understanding of luxury hospitality and guest service standards Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Experience with POS/CRM systems (Commerce7 preferred) Ability to manage both operational and strategic responsibilities Wine knowledge preferred (WSET or equivalent a plus) Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during service Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (wine cases) as needed Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary or hourly wage (based on experience) Eligibility for gratuities and performance-based incentives Wine discounts and employee perks Opportunities for career growth within hospitality and DTC leadership
