Job Description

Responsible for promoting and restoring patient's health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care, directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs and providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.
Principal Accountabilities:
1.
Overall Functioning of unit:
overseeing and assisting with the coordination and delivery of patient care. Facilitating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Rounds to oversee clinical care, support team engagement, maintain a safe environment, and enhance the patient and family experience. Reviews and evaluates patient care documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards. Demonstrating sound decision-making ability and flexibility regarding the needs of patients, families, and staff members. Encouraging and promoting high standards of patient care. Ensuring appropriate staffing is met to meet patient needs. addressing daily operational. Responsible for monitoring team member schedules, coordinating overtime, and ensuring staffing aligns with budget. Ensure productivity targets are maintained. Ensures payroll is accurate. Ensure equipment and supplies are maintained. Assist with budget preparation and monthly variance analysis. 2.
Performance Appraisals:
Coordinates and supports introductory and annual performance appraisals. Participates in hiring, termination. Provides clinical and behavioral guidance. Identifies educational opportunities and promotes professional growth. Uses progressive disciplinary processes. Addresses staff issues promptly and documents actions. Monitors time and attendance. Facilitates respectful conflict resolution. 3.
Maintains Collaborative relationship:
involve acting as a leader in the absence of the manager, providing on-shift coordination and guidance. Maintains open communication with staff, physicians, and leadership. ability to assess and resolve complex issues independently or collaboratively. Foster teamwork across departments and disciplines to ensure quality patient care. 4.
Maintains a safe environment:
Ensures compliance with OSHA, Joint Commission, Board of Health, and hospital standards. Fulfills all regulatory, licensure, annual competency, and mandatory training requirements. Promotes high-quality patient care by developing and interpreting the hospital's and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care, enforcing adherence to state nursing regulations and other governing bodies. Actively participates in patient safety initiatives and performance improvement efforts. Develops, implements, and monitors action plans in response to survey findings or unit-specific issues. Maintains and regularly updates unit policies and procedures to reflect current best practices and regulatory expectations. 5.
Response to emergent situations:
Recognizes emergency situations promptly. Immediately initiates appropriate emergency procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in using emergency equipment. Ensure emergency equipment is properly checked and maintained. Implements emergency protocols effectively. Works cooperatively with coworkers during emergencies. Appropriately uses the emergency clinical codes. 6.
Professional Practice:
Serves as a clinical resource to the healthcare team, patients, and families. Acts as a mentor and preceptor. Participates in the orientation of new employees. Participates in huddles, rounding, bedside reports, and team communication. Promotes professional development, specialty certification, and continuing education. Recognizes limitations and seeks appropriate resources. Seeks new information to broaden knowledge base. Actively participates in USBG (Unit Based Shared Governance) activities. Serves on interdepartmental committees and task forces. Acts as a unit liaison when requested. Supports Magnet journey. Establishing a pleasant work atmosphere that focuses on teamwork and recognition of individual excellence is a priority. 7. Experience with Quality initiatives, action plans, and auditing; Time management and multitasking skills to facilitate patient movement; Experience with Joint Commission preparation for disease specific certification. 8. Experience with team evaluations and disciplinary action processes; Proven ability to coach teams and provide opportunities to facilitate team work; MS office experience Problem solving, decision making and negotiation skills Strong leadership skills; Able to work with multiple departments; Superior interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. 9. On-Call as needed to meet the department needs. 10. Delivers direct patient care in productive numbers as needed to meet the needs of the department and as directed by nurse manager/leadership team. Collaborates with Nurse Manager to develop unit-based goals; reports out to system and hospital-wide committees on quality metrics; active engagement in the Magnet application and ACC accreditation processes.
Required:
1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. 2. Master's degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare, or Finance preferred 3. BLS and ACLS Certification. 4. Minimum of 3 years nursing experience required; critical care experience preferred. 5. Prior Cath Lab experience preferred 6. Prior leadership role preferred 7. HRO training.
Preferred:
1. MSN preferred.
