Job Description
The Manchester-Shortsville CSD (Red Jacket Schools) is seeking candidates for the following position for 2026-2027: Assistant Principal HS/MS (1.0 FTE) Probationary Start Date 7/1/2026 The Manchester-Shortsville Central School District is seeking a student-centered, collaborative, and growth-oriented leader to serve as Assistant Principal for the Middle and High School. The AP will support the Principal in daily school operations, promote a positive and inclusive school climate, and contribute to high levels of student achievement and staff effectiveness. This position requires a visible instructional leader who builds strong relationships with students, staff, and families, while ensuring systems and structures support academic and athletic success and student well-being. Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership Support and promote high expectations for teaching and learning aligned with NYS Learning Standards Collaborate with teachers and administrators to improve instructional practices and student outcomes Use multiple sources of data to support instructional planning and program evaluation Assist in curriculum implementation and alignment across grades 6-12 Student Support and School Climate Assist in the development and implementation of student management systems that promote positive behavior Oversee student discipline using preventative, restorative, and equitable practices Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment for all students Support social-emotional learning and adolescent development Staff Supervision and Development Assist in the supervision and evaluation of instructional and support staff in accordance with APPR requirements Support staff growth through coaching, feedback, and professional development Participate in hiring processes and staff selection Operations and Management Assist with daily building operations, including scheduling, supervision, and school events Collaborate on master scheduling, student programming, and resource allocation Support the organization and administration of assessments and exams Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations Athletic Leadership Provide oversight and coordination of the interscholastic athletics program for grades 7-12 Ensure compliance with
NYSPHSAA
regulations, Section V guidelines, and district policies Coordinate athletic scheduling, transportation, and game/event management Supervise and support coaches, including hiring, evaluation, and professional expectations Promote sportsmanship, student-athlete development, and positive representation of the school community Collaborate with school nurses, counselors, and staff to support student-athlete eligibility and well-being Assist with budget management, equipment needs, and inventory in collaboration with district leadership Maintain communication with families, coaches, officials, and league representatives Collaboration and Communication Build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, faculty, and community partners Communicate effectively and proactively with stakeholders Collaborate with counselors, support staff, and external agencies to meet student needs Safety and School Systems Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly school environment, including emergency procedures and crisis response Support school-wide initiatives (e.g., PBIS, MTSS, SEL) Additional Responsibilities Participate in district and building leadership teams, committees, and initiatives Perform other duties as assigned by theDistrict Job Qualifications Required:
New York State Certification as School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Leader (SDL) Master's degree in an education or education leadership field Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching or educational administrative experience Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsPreferred:
Prior administrative or leadership experience at the middle and/or high school level Experience supporting student discipline systems and school climate initiatives Demonstrated ability to use data to drive instructional improvement Commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and relationship-building Experience in athletic administration, coaching, or supervision of extracurricular programs The ideal candidate will: Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Red Jacket Schools Be highly visible, approachable, and student-centered Value collaboration and foster strong relationships across the school community Lead with integrity, professionalism, and a focus on solutions Promote equitable opportunities and outcomes for all students Support extracurricular and athletic opportunities as part of a well-rounded student experiencePosition Start Date:
