Position Summary:
The Campbell University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program invites applications for a 12-month tenure-track core faculty position. The department seeks a collaborative educator-scholar committed to developing physical therapists capable of serving any patient, anywhere. Qualified candidates are licensed physical therapists who possess a doctoral degree such as a DPT or terminal academic doctorate (e.g. PhD, DSc, EdD, etc.). Candidates should demonstrate a defined area of expertise and a developing or established scholarly agenda related to physical therapy or a related discipline. We welcome applicants with expertise in any area of physical therapy practice, with particular interest in those with backgrounds in vestibular rehabilitation, complex medical populations, primary care, or rural/underserved environments. Academic rank (Assistant or Associate Professor) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Responsibilities include teaching DPT courses within the candidate's area of expertise, contributing to a productive scholarly agenda, and providing service to the program, university, and profession. The Department of Physical Therapy is comprised of 12 core faculty members, supported by a network of strong associated faculty members with diverse and specialized clinical expertise. The successful candidate will join our collaborative team and enhance the student-centered curriculum. Our program emphasizes frequent and immersive experiences with real and simulated patients to strengthen the integration of didactic and clinical learning. The DPT program curricular design enables students and faculty to benefit from state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities located on the Health Science Campus in Lillington, North Carolina. Consistent with our commitment to student-centered education, this position is campus-based and leverages in-person interaction to foster meaningful mentorship, coaching, and support that enhance student outcomes and professional growth. The department is housed within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (CPHS), which emphasizes high-quality interprofessional education to meet evolving healthcare needs. CPHS includes programs in Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical and Clinical Sciences, Physician Assistant Practice, Nursing, and Public Health. Interprofessional education is woven throughout the curriculum, with collaboration across CPHS programs and the School of Osteopathic Medicine. The program's proximity to both rural communities and major population centers (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) provides opportunities for the continued development of strong partnerships with healthcare systems, academic institutions, and community organizations, supporting innovative initiatives in education, scholarship, and service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and present materials in areas of assigned teaching that meet course objectives Utilize effective, evidence-based teaching strategies for lecture and laboratory experiences Assess student competence within courses Be an active member of assigned committees and department meetings Advise students Demonstrate and/or develop and carry out a defined scholarly agenda Be active in service (e.g. community, university, and profession) Participate in assessment of the program, college, and university, as assigned Mentor associated faculty that assist in lecture and laboratory experiences Participate in patient care and program pro bono clinical services Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to; HIPAA, FERPA and other state and federal mandates Other job-related duties, activities and responsibilities may change or be assigned at any time, with or without notice Education/Experience - Requirements Graduate of a CAPTE accredited Physical Therapist program in the United States Current Physical Therapist license in North Carolina (or current licensure in a US jurisdiction with eligibility in NC) An earned doctoral degree is required (DPT and/or terminal academic degree such as PhD, EdD, DSC, etc.) Clinical practice experience in physical therapy for >3 years Emerging line of scholarly inquiry Education/Experience - Preferred An earned terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, etc.) in physical therapy or related field Previous teaching experience in a DPT program, or credentialed PT residency/fellowship program History of productive scholarship (e.g. published manuscripts, peer-reviewed poster/platforms) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels Adaptability, flexibility, and a willingness to work in a changing environment Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University.
