Job Description

Assistant Project Manager Your new companyYour new company is a growing general contractor headquartered in the DMV region with over a decade of proven success in public-sector construction. Originally established as a subcontractor, the firm has successfully transitioned into a full-service GC and is known for self-performing a significant portion of its work. With approximately 30 professionals across operations, field leadership, and project delivery, the company emphasizes career growth, long-term stability, and hands-on mentorship. The majority of projects support state and local governments throughout Maryland and Virginia, offering consistent backlog and job security.

Your new roleAs an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the General Contracting team, managing multiple commercial and government projects ranging from $1M-$13M in value. You'll assist with day-to-day project execution, including OAC meetings, client communication, submittals, RFIs, and coordination with subcontractors and internal field teams. Projects include K-12 schools, government buildings, interior renovations, and work in occupied environments. You will work primarily from the office in Maryland with site visits as needed and report directly to a senior leader who is committed to training and professional development.

What you'll need to succeed
  • 1-2 years of experience in construction
  • Exposure to commercial construction projects is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Comfortable participating in client and OAC meetings
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with superintendents and operations leadership
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and a desire for long-term career growth
  • A degree is not required; hands-on experience is highly valued.
