Job Description

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) with experience supporting commercial construction projects , including healthcare facilities, office buildings, and retail developments . This role will support Project Managers with day-to-day project execution, coordination, documentation, and financial tracking from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow into a full Project Manager role while gaining exposure to diverse, fast-paced commercial construction environments. Key Responsibilities Support Project Managers with day-to-day management of commercial construction projects Assist with project scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and meeting follow-ups Track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation Help manage project budgets, cost tracking, and forecast updates Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, and engineers Support procurement activities including buyouts and material tracking Participate in project meetings, site walks, and progress updates Assist with closeout activities including punchlists, turnover documents, and warranties Ensure compliance with project safety, quality, and contract requirements Required Experience & Qualifications 2-5 years of experience in commercial construction as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, or similar role Experience supporting healthcare, office, and/or retail construction projects Strong understanding of construction documents and project workflows Familiarity with submittals, RFIs, schedules, and cost tracking Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar) Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Freehold, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $36.05/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
