05/25/2026 The Black Horse Pike Regional School District is seeking an Assistant School Nurse for the 2026-2027 school year.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current Licensure in New Jersey as a Registered Nurse Current CPR certification
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Coordinates and provides medical services to staff and pupils in order to maintain a climate of health and well-being in the schools, within guidelines established by the Board of Education and New Jersey Department of Education.
RESPONSIBILITY
Reports to the Building Principal and the appropriate supervisor.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The full-time nurse functions to the level of a professional licensed registered nurse and fulfills the duties cited in the State code. This is a travelling position, as assigned by the appropriate supervisor. 1. Assists with conducting School Health Services and annual screenings as outlined by School Medical Inspector, Principal, state certified school nurse, and Board Policy. 2. Provide on-call nursing coverage for the CARES program for up to four hours/day which may include the administering of medications as needed as per medical provider's order. 3. Assists School Nurses when Conferring with: a. School Medical Advisor and/or supervisor when changes are necessary or advisable b. Representatives from community and State agencies. 4. Provides assistance to physically disabled students as needed, including and not limited to assistance with use of bathroom facilities. 5. Assists in the control of communicable diseases: a. Interprets Board of Education immunization policy and records certificates as presented by students b. Examines students returning to school. 1) After absence of five days or more 2) After an illness if a teacher feels that the students is not fully recovered from the illness c. Utilizes every opportunity of pupil contact to teach and advise good hygiene and health habits. d. Appropriately disposes of health office generated medical waste 6. Provides care as outlined in policy for ill or injured: a. Renders first aid to students and/or school personnel b. Notifies family and advises according to need c.
Follows up on accidents:
1) Report filed by teacher 2) Copied in duplicate and sent to Superintendent via Vice Principal 3) Restrictions of physical education activity or adjustment in program d. Maintains individual record of visits to nurse e. Complete compensation forms as necessary and submit to the Principal f. Provides students with physical education excuses upon receipt of authorized parent or MD notes 7.
Records Statistical Data:
a. Daily business conducted b. Results of screenings and doctor's recommendations on student health record c. Assists School Nurse with the Completion of Annual report of tuberculosis survey d. Assists School Nurse with the completion of Comprehensive Annual Report to Superintendent, Principal, and Supervisor e. Assist School Nurse with Annual report of immunization survey f. Assists School Nurse with Screening Tests. 8. Assists with the review of physical examinations for students to participate or be involved in sports and band: a. Checks parent permission cards b. Follows physical examination procedure per State mandate 9. Assists with integration of health in general school program a. Provides teachers with health education materials b. Interprets health program to students and teachers through medium of bulletins and classroom talks 10. Assists in maintaining a sanitary, safe environment. 11. Assists with maintaining all pertinent health records for students and staff. 12. Assists school nurses in providing staff in-service training on Bloodborne Pathogens, Diabetes, Seizures, Asthma and any other mandated medical related training. 13. Performs all other duties as assigned.
EVALUATION
In accordance with State Statutes and Rule and the Board of Education Policy based upon the list of Duties and Responsibilities.
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment shall be a full-time ten (10

  • $60,500
  • $102,350.
