Job Description

Position Summary:

JF Scott Construction has a strong reputation in Maine for successfully completing challenging and high-profile projects. We are a small company of about 25 employees and embrace the family culture our firm provides. Located in Winthrop, most of our projects are an hour's drive or less. Responsibilities:
1. The Assistant Superintendent works with the Superintendent to coordinate all site construction activities and supervise all crew members to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. This includes maintaining the highest quality, supervising all trade and crew members, and administering good construction safety practices. 2. Desire to take on more responsibility and manage small projects individually. 3. Maintain professional communication and appearance at work. 4. Provide excellent customer service to customers and clients. 5. Oversee and perform the work of the construction crew and subcontractors while maintaining job site organization and ensure safety requirements are met. 6. Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications and assign work activities to construction crew. 7. Perform rough carpentry, finish carpentry and millwork. Layout walls, doors and install fixtures and accessories using previously established control lines. 8. Layout building and project control points for use by other trades. 9. Maintain quality control and quality assurance per company quality control plan. 10. Safe operation and service of construction machinery which includes: skidsteers, forklifts, construction vehicles, compressors, generators, ground heaters and aerial lifts. 11. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and daily reports for each assigned project. 12. Assist with employee payroll and ensure it is completed timely and accurately. 13. Work safely and operate equipment, machinery, hand and power tools in a safe manner. 14. Perform other work-related duties as assigned. 15. Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for yourself and others. Individuals in leadership positions have a specific responsibility for the health and safety of their crew members for which they oversee. Qualifications 1. High school diploma or GED is required. 2. Secondary education preferred, but not required. 3. 5+ years' experience in a leadership role in the construction industry. 4. Must have experience operating hand and power tools while performing rough and finish carpentry. Must supply own hand tools used in typical carpentry projects. 5. Must have an unexpired and valid driver's license and a clear driving record.
