JOB TITLE
Assistant Superintendent
REPORTS TO
Superintendent SUMMARY:
Provides leadership and coordination for assigned district operations in support of the Superintendent and Board of Education. Oversees personnel functions, career and technical education initiatives, student workforce opportunities, facilities coordination, and compliance programs to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the school district. Performs duties personally or through collaboration with administrators, supervisors, and support staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Serves as a positive role model for students and staff. Assists in the development, expansion, implementation, and evaluation of District Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming. Serves as liaison between the District and local business, industry, and community partners. Provides leadership and support to grades 6-12 administrative teams in the areas of student apprenticeships, College Credit Plus (CCP), internships, and other career/work-based learning opportunities. Coordinates and oversees Human Resource functions for the district, including recruitment, onboarding, personnel records, and employee relations. Updates, maintains, and administers the district job description manual. Serves as the District Title IX Coordinator and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Serves as chairperson of the District Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC). Serves as the District United Way campaign chair. Reviews and approves tuition reimbursement requests and transcripts for salary schedule placement in accordance with board policy and negotiated agreements. Assists in the supervision, evaluation, appointment, training, and advancement of certified and classified personnel. Provides general oversight of facilities operations through the Facilities Director, including custodial services, preventative maintenance, and preservation of district buildings, grounds, and equipment. Demonstrates regular and reliable attendance. Maintains current knowledge of Board policies, administrative guidelines, state regulations, and educational best practices. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Manage the Administrative, Support Services, Curriculum and Instruction, Personnel, Transportation and Buildings and Grounds departments and personnel. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these departments.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND /OR EXPEREINCE
Master's degree with administrative coursework leading to superintendent certification and a minimum of three years teaching experience and three years administrative experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets professional journals, instructional material, textbooks, and educational publications and teaching aides. Ability to write reports, lesson plans, and other written communication for parents, students, and administrators. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, administrators and parents.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
The employee will have an operational knowledge of either Macintosh or Windows based computers and related technology. The employee will take advantage of all district level technology training that is appropriate to their teaching assignment.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A valid Ohio assistant superintendent's certificate as required by the Ohio Department of Education required. Superintendent's certificate preferred.

The employee will be expected to lift and move typical classroom equipment such as overhead projectors, TV/VCR's, and computers on moveable carts. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essentials functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will be using either Macintosh or Windows based computers and related technology on a regular basis. The employee is determined to be at risk of exposure to bodily fluids including blood, human tissue or body fluids and must make "universal precautions" a standard operating procedure.

The employee will be evaluated in accordance with the district requirements and within the timelines specified by law.
