Superintendent for SAU#53Position Overview:
The Assistant Superintendent of Student Services is responsible for overseeing a broad range of programs and staff designed to support students with diverse needs, ensuring they receive FAPE. This role will manage and lead the development, implementation, and compliance of Special Education, 504 Plans, McKinney-Vento Homeless Education, Title IX, and ESOL programming. The Assistant Superintendent will collaborate with district leaders, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure these students receive the necessary services, accommodations, and support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally at SAU #53. This position will work with 5 Districts- Allenstown, Chichester, Deerfield, Epsom, and Pembroke, and their respective Boards.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
- Lead and oversee the development and implementation of district-wide student support programs.
- Collaborate with school leaders, district staff, and external agencies to ensure effective service delivery for students with diverse needs.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of district programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Supervise and support SAU 53 Special Education Office Staff and SAU Professional School Based Employees
- School Psychologists, Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, ESOL Teachers, Special Educators Administrator for The Learning Connection Preschool Program and Preschool Outreach Services, and others as hired.
- Provide professional development for staff on best practices for serving students with disabilities and Title IX regulations.
- Create and help manage district and SAU special education budgets.
- Presentation of budgets at SAU and District Budget meetings.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Compliance & Accountability:
- Ensure all student services programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines, including IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act),
- -Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, Title IX, and ESOL.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, reporting, and monitoring of student progress and services.
- Lead the development and submission of required reports to regulatory agencies and IDEA Grant oversight.
- Administrator for Special Education, Section 504, ESOL, specialized transportation, Medicaid to Schools, and Title IX Coordinator for SAU 53
Collaboration & Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between the district, families, and community organizations in matters related to student services.
- Provide ongoing communication with families of students receiving services, ensuring they are informed of their rights and available supports.
- Attend school board meetings as necessary and provide education and guidance regarding special education and budgeting.
- Administrator representative on District committees as needed
- Membership of New Hampshire Association for Special Education Administrators (NHASEA)
Data & Reporting:
- Analyze and utilize data to monitor performance and progress of students receiving services, using data to drive decision-making and program improvements.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting on the status of students in the aforementioned categories.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office setting and attend meetings within the district or community.
- Regular travel required between districts and board meetings.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Master's degree in Education, Special Education
- Valid NH certification in Special Education Administration and Assistant Superintendent or eligibility.
- Minimum of five years of experience in special education with at least two years in a leadership or administrative role. Experience at the SAU level preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to Special Education, 504, McKinney-Vento, Title IX
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, and external agencies.
Salary:
- Based on experience and qualifications
Pay:
$100,000.00- $120,000.
