Job Description

The Assistant Women's Gymnastics Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III program. This position plays a key role in recruiting, athlete development, daily training, and program operations, while helping to foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists the Head Coach in the organization, administration, and implementation of all aspects of the Women's Gymnastics program. Coaches and safely spots athletes on all four apparatuses. Assists with the development and execution of daily practice plans, including event-specific training assignments. Actively participates in recruiting prospective student-athletes, including evaluation, communication, and relationship-building with athletes, families, and club coaches. Assists in planning and supervising practices, workouts, and conditioning sessions. Oversees meet-day equipment setup and breakdown. Assists with team travel coordination, officials' arrangements, and required departmental and NCAA documentation. Manages and creates content for team social media platforms in alignment with athletic department branding. Assists in developing and implementing team-building initiatives that support a positive and cohesive team culture. Supports fundraising efforts, alumni relations, and community engagement initiatives. Ensures compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Works collaboratively with athletic department staff, attends meetings and events, and represents the College in a professional and positive manner in all interactions. Completes administrative and operational duties in a timely and organized manner. Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics. As an institutional staff member actively involved with NCAA Division III prospects, student-athletes, and athletic department personnel, this position is responsible for upholding all conference and NCAA rules and regulations. In accordance with NCAA Bylaw 11.1, any known violations must be reported, and accountability is expected within the program.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty effectively. The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of competitive gymnastics experience and/or coaching experience at the collegiate level or within a highly competitive club program (Elite and/or Level 10 preferred). Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Ability to teach safe and effective skill progressions across all events. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with student-athletes, recruits, and other faculty and staff of the College. Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive, team-first culture. Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment. Ability to evaluate talent and effectively recruit student-athletes who align with the program's values and standards. Ability to work evenings, weekends and travel as required. Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification and institutional van driving clearance.
PREFERRED
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years as a competitive player or experience in college women's gymnastics coaching at the assistant or head coaching level.
  • Experience in an NCAA Division III program.
  • Experience with a selective, residential, Liberal Arts college.
