Sep 04, 2026 CONTACT Job Description The School of Health Professions at Long Island University seeks a licensed physical therapist with prior academic/teaching experience and a commitment to scholarly activity for a newly developed DPT program housed on its historic, 330-acre Brookville campus. The preferred candidate will also possess a post-professional doctoral degree. Faculty rank and salary are commensurate with experience and credentials.
Principal responsibilities of this position:
Develop and teach courses for new, residential DPT program Mentor entry-level DPT students Generate peer-reviewed scholarship and seek grant funding to support research Participate in appointed administrative and service activities Opportunity to engage in program development: Participate in admission interviews of prospective students Assist in student retention and maintain high academic standards Work with entire faculty to develop program assessment and accreditation documents Qualifications that apply to all applicants: • Possess a license to practice as a physical therapist in the State of New York (or be eligible for NY licensure); Hold a DPT degree and/or an academic doctoral degree; Have a minimum of five years of clinical practice; specialty certification is highly desired; Able to provide evidence of effective teaching either as a clinical instructor or academic faculty member (adjunct or full-time) for physical therapy students; Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
