The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) at Montreat College seeks a full-time faculty member in ExerciseScience to serve in our Christ-centered traditional residential undergraduate liberal arts setting. The successful candidate will be anoutstanding, creative, entrepreneurial teacher and scholar with a heart for student success. The College desires an individual who can helpfurther shape and collaboratively lead a robust program that integrates undergraduate research development, practical classroom experiences,health and wellness practices broadly understood, and basic exercise science, with a variety of professional applications. Interdisciplinaryability to operate cooperatively in the context of the College's strengths and forward momentum in the health science area is also expected.This appointment is in the Faculty of Science and Human Services, Studies in Natural and Health Sciences, with teaching and service inNatural Science (Exercise Science).
Qualifications :
The successful candidate will affirm and support the Mission, Vision, andStatement of Faith of Montreat College as found here: https://www.montreat.edu/about/mission/ . The candidate will also demonstrate support forChristian liberal arts education across the arts and sciences and the specific ability to integrate faith with the disciplines in acompelling, thoughtful manner. Teaching excellence and a willingness to serve the broader college community through service and committeework are also expected. Preference given to individuals with experience or strategies to mentor undergraduate level research. Additional specific qualifications and expectations include: Earned graduate degree required (terminal degree preferred)in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Nutrition, Physiology, or a health-related natural science field and one or more degrees, certification,or professional experience in the health and wellness industry, with professional credentials and ability to teach courses in exercisescience, including but not limited to anatomy and physiology (with lab), principles of strength and conditioning, exercise physiology,testing and measurements, nutrition, and sports psychology; and other courses determined by background and departmental needs Strong Christian faith with a deep commitment to its expression in personal and professional life. Commitment to the ChristianLiberal Arts (both arts and sciences) and its vocational relevance to our students' lives. Experience teaching in Christianhigher education preferred. Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff within and across departments and disciplines. Commitment to professional development.Duties :
Nine-month annual contract teaching 24 facultycredit hours (typically eight courses of three credits each) Institutional service as detailed in the Faculty Handbook, includingcommittee work and student academic and professional advising and mentoring. Other duties as assigned by the Provost within thescope of the Faculty Handbook.Supervision :
