Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by providing specialized instruction and support as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. This contract-based opportunity focuses on K-8 students in both inclusion and resource settings. Multiple positions are available for dedicated educators who are passionate about fostering growth and positive outcomes for students with diverse learning needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
Must hold a valid North Carolina General Curriculum Certification for grades K-12 Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher highly preferred Ability to support students functioning academically up to three grade levels below current placement Familiarity with teaching in both inclusion and resource classrooms Expertise in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
Key Responsibilities:
Serve caseloads that typically range from 15 to 20 students, not to exceed 25 Deliver targeted instruction to support academic, social, and emotional growth Collaborate with fellow educators to launch and participate in a new Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program Adapt lessons and use a variety of strategies and resources for diverse learners Monitor and document student progress while maintaining up-to-date records Engage actively with parents/guardians and school team members to ensure student success Create a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment for every student This is a chance to play a critical role in shaping students' futures and to help build an innovative SEL initiative.
